For the past few weeks I have been unable to get a decent night's sleep as my audio hallucinations are back again and worse than at any other time. I take 5mg. of Abilify for this. Has anyone experienced these hallucinations..and what meds, if any, were prescribed?

By the way, the hallucinations only occur when I am trying to rest in bed. If anyone can help me sort thru this..I'd appreciate it. audio hallucinations becoming worse

audio hallucinations becoming worse I don't usually read or post in this forum. I'm not up to date with anything on these disorders, really.

I wanted to let you know I read your post (((hugs))) and ask if you have tried any kind of white noise to help drown the other sounds out? I use a CD with sounds to send the brain into delta waves. I have severe tinnitus in one ear, and when I try to sleep (as entire house is silent) it makes it so much "louder."

I found a clock radio at St. Vincent dePaul for $1 that plays all kinds of nature noises like what Sky is talking about. It really does help.

I picked up a sleep CD at Target for $10 that has delta waves mixed in with the music, but I actually sleep worse with that than with the clock.

I have tinnitus in my right ear, and it helps drown out the ringing that seems louder when everything else is quiet, and especially if I lay with that ear facing the pillow.

The white noise gives me something else to focus on besides the ringing and all the day's thoughts that don't want to shut down.

i can sympathize with your situation...
i have a similar thing going on...
the noise i hear while laying down to sleep is much like a train station, airport, or mall food court.... just a lot of senseless noise that sounds like lots of people talking, etc... sometimes i can focus in on certain converstaions the people are having. its kind of annoying and certainly interferes with sleep.
and sometimes i wake up in the middle of the night cuz i am certain i heard an intruder coming into my house... i even grab a knife and wander around the house like an agent searching for the intruder....

i dont take any meds for it, but i try my hardest to convince myself that these things are just in my mind...
and eventually i fall asleep.
