My Dr isn't like that - but we are in England - I know she isn't with the sleeper cells though - I can see it.

I think there are doctors who are more about meds and that meds are the answer and the only answer. Then there are those who are thinking there are other things besides meds. Some doctors are good and others terrible. It's that way with all things.

When I was in the hospital for physical reasons, I had to have 3 surgeries and lots of things done, and was in a lot of pain. My surgeon, who was an awesome doctor, had his 3 days off. That 3 days was the worst of my time in the hospital, because his co-woker doctors were terrible! One of them told me I had to have a second cat-scan and having to drink all that orange yucky crap caused my pancreatitus to re-flare up. Then he came into the room after I had dinner and said, "You've had a relaps, no more food for you! Back to the liquid diet!" And I started crying and had to call my husband. He was pissed the doctor did that. Next morning, the doctor never even told the kitchen or anything >.< And it turned out I was okay to eat anyway. >.>

So, some doctors are just crap.

In My profite I believe, I set them years ago, because I also find various text sizes annoying. And some people's posts would be wider than others so I'd have to scroll over. I'll see if I can find them again.

The Dr I saw 2/3 times - he was racist and he had a problem with how I dressed.

No one else in the room was black though - so I don't know why all his anger was directed at me.

He was black, it's not just white people that are racist.

I don't have this problem with the new Dr because she is white as well.

SAME HERE. except my doctors around my area are indian and they have accents that i cant understand. mine is indian. ive had 4-5 indian psychiatrists. and only 3 caucasian psychiatrists. thats what ive had.

He was the only one that I had a problem with.

It's so awkward because if you can't understand - you can't really answer questions.

the indian ones have SUCH an attitude and are uncaring. the only ones that ever yelled at me and i had problems with have been THEM. ive never had a major issue with the other doctors.

We used to have a patient who was from India. She would come with her husband and he would sit in the waiting area and talk to me. Her accent was very light and she was easy to understand. But his accent was very, very thick and hard to understand. I think he understood it was hard to understand him, because he would make a lot of "sound effects" and do hand motions. He was an interesting guy.

I want to address a couple of things that have come up in this thread...which, btw, has veered WAY off the original OP.

The discussion about psychiatrists and counselors who prescribe meds vs. those who don't. I take it that the opinions stated are that those prescribing medications "psychotropics"...someone called them, are bad doctors. I beg to differ, and I'm one who has been thru counseling for many years prior to the advent and availability of antidepressants...spending large amts of money on counseling sessions that never benefitted. I'm talking many years of this. When I was finally prescribed an antidepressant (not by a psych doctor, but by my family physician) and went back to the counselor I was seeing at the time, he saw such a marked difference, a healthy improvement in my attitude, he pronounced I no longer needed his help. I feel this was true, and I commend the counselor for not stringing me on. I have been on an antidepressant of one form or another for 20+ years now. Prior to that, I spent my entire life, from early childhood struggling with crippling depression. I am free of that, thanks to the medication. I'm balanced, and I function very well, in my work as well as my relationships.
So, I apologize for rambling on about this, but there are true benefits to medications, especially, I believe, when one is suffering from delusions, obsessions, and unable to function in society.

I'm not anti-meds.

if you arent a shill and are still questioning this, maybe you should first question why you are on tranquilizers and sedatives that are basically a lobotomy in a pill. Take it from someone who has tried all of them from zyprexa to abilify.
