Thought this was interesting. This guy put jazz musicians into fmri to study creativity. One of the things that happen is the amount of activity in the prefrontal cortex shuts down....this is one of the same things that happens with sz.....there is always this tie in between mental illness and creativity and I'm wondering if one is just an extreme form of the other... There is thought to be creativity in the entire family of those who are mentally ill.

Do you think you are more creative than the General population?

Yes, I am definitely more creative than most.

i would definitely say YES i am more creative than average.
I played drums for over 10 years and sometimes paint and make collages. i do photography. ETC - all the typical artsy stuff.

i also notice my creativity in non-artsy things.
i think one reason why i like philosophy and im kind of good at it is because i can think outside the box. i also notice my creativity interests such as government and history. and i recently gotten into the stock market and am pretty good at it because i think outside the box with it.

both my parents are artistic.
my dad plays multiple instruments since he was like 11. and has played for many small audiences and when he was in college. my mom is also very creative. she likes to paint and read and do crafts.

the only person thats not really artsy is my sister (in my immediate family i mean). if it runs in families then she may not be artsy because shes technically my half sister. but idk

I'm creative, but I'm not very productive. I have a unique view of the world, am very good at "thinking outside the box", etc. but I get too distracted and impatient to actually create anything. I wish that this was different, because I think a lot of my emotional problems stem from having too much pent up creative energy. I need to find an outlet for it.

i used to be i feel like the shots im on have dulled me in that aspect. i think its just harder to be motivated to do creative things.
i used to paint and color and draw and collage for fun. i have tons of art supplies that i never use anymore...

I'm very creative although my ability to tap into it is impaired. That really annoys me because I love being creative.

But my mom's family all of my aunts and uncles are artists and musicians. Even my cousins and even my cousin who is a physicist, super logic guy, plays clarinet and sings in choir.

On my dad's side my great grandfather was a journalist.

I was creative but it seems all the things I was are no longer. I don't know if I can ever find myself again.
