I kind of half see it, because it doesn't look right when it turns the other way.
I don't have schizophrenia though.

it is really interesting to me. i don't think this can really be accurate simply because we were already aware that there was an optical illusion, so our brains already had a "heads up" about it and compensated for it. i very very briefly saw the concave, only because i wanted to see it and i knew the reality of it. if i had not known the reality about the brain compensating for what is expected in perception, i probably would have seen the concave for a longer amount of time untill my brain changed it to what it expected.

it is really a trip to know how the brain is so powerful. that our brains can make unreality real, and reality insane. up is down and down is up.

I can see it either way. I can look at it and see it as concave OR convex. Maybe that was because I was set up to know it was an illusion though? Also, I'm not sz, just psychotic.

I see the illusion, but only for the second half (of it turning).
I don't know if this is only geared to people with schizophrenia or other forms of psychosis, but I'm not schizophrenic.

I can't see it hollowed out no matter how hard I try. As soon as the eye hole is revealed, it immediately pops out as a face rotating in the opposite direction. As soon as the eye hole disappears, the rotation appears to reverse again.

That's interesting. For me to see the face pop out I had to try really hard and even then I knew I wasn't really seeing it like you do.

Yeah that's exactly how I saw it Costello. Couldn't see it hollowed out at all.

This reminds me of the spinning lady optical illusion. I see her spinning clockwise, but I can - with effort - make her turn counter-clockwise. I have not been able to see the mask hollowed out, but maybe with more effort ...

This page has the spinning lady at the top. Then you can use the ones with her legs colored to practice reversing her: Clockwise or counter-clockwise? | www.qianqin.de

I bet if I practiced enough, I could turn her back and forth at will. Unfortunately it's giving me a headache and making me a little queasy. I do wonder if a similar thing could be done with the mask illusion.

I see clockwise, initially all three were clockwise I had to really focus to get it to go counterclockwise on the blue leg it almost stutters...brain just doesn't want to do it the other way is so much more fluid.

Yes, the optical illusion is that it's pushed out like a regular face. People who don't see the illusion will see it hollowed out like the inside of a mask - which it is.

I could immediately see the spinning lady going in either direction. I always see spinning illusions this way. Its kind of fun.

Ok, the spinning lady is weird. I did it years ago and could make it change direction at will. I then did it a few days ago and all three images went clockwise and I couldn't get it to change direction at all (or see it anti-clockwise with the different coloured legs). Now I look at it again just now to see what direction I saw it go in last time and it's definitely going anti-clockwise this time and I can't see it clockwise at all (or the different coloured legs go clockwise).

ETA: By looking at the shadow right at the bottom I got it to switch back to clockwise, but can't get it to switch to anticlockwise. God knows what any of this means regarding whether my brain is 'normal', or creative vs logic-orientated! lol Very weird!!

Actually, SP, I am an ultradian cycler! On the money! Hahaha.

Costello: for me, the mask doesn't pop out until half way through. So I see it hollow for quite some time. It isn't until the nose shows up for me that it suddenly pops out. And then once the nose disappears, it goes back. So I see it hollow with the eye holes showing. Interesting.

I'll have to watch the spinning lady later. That site is blocked for me right now.

This is how it was for me too.

Interesting. I looked at the video twice. The first time, I fell for the illusion. The second time, I saw the hollow mask twice. On another pass, I initially saw hollowness, but once the face was directly facing me, it became convex. As it turned, the hollowness returned.

I don't have schizophrenia, but I have had psychosis.
