Do any of you have sever difficulty with focus and attention? I mean like.... really, really bad. And once you lose focus unable to get back. This is true with fun things and not fun things. Things I highly enjoy. I think my lack of focus contributes to my confusion a lot.

It's becoming a real problem. I haven't been able to focus on anything all week. I just read an article by reading it in random order instead of linearly, only able to focus on certain scentances and paragraphs....

Yes, sometimes I'll have days where I can't focus on anything. Even things that I love to do, my attention just won't hold. It does contribute to a lot of confusion/disorientation for me too. I'm sorry, I know cognitive problems like this really suck.

Faerie: You have posted about not being under the care of an MD because of financial reasons. Do you have any type of healthcare at all? I just wonder if what you are experiencing could be related to a health condition that you may have, like diabetes, sleep apnea, hormone issues etc. When was the last time you had a complete blood workup?
I just wonder about you and I worry.

Recently my mom was dx'd with apnea. Who'd of thought all these years that a simple thing that was overlooked could be one root to her cognition problems? She does of course have abnormalities on her MRI, and is 68 yrs. old, but because apnea can cause a lot of MI issues, I am definitely going to pursue an apnea test for myself.

I hear you, Faerie, really struggling with this cognition and focusing stuff and I hope that there might be a way for you to get medical services at a reduced cost so you can start feeling better.

My last blood work-up was last year when I was in the hospital. I had to have my gallbladder out, then all the stones, then got pacreatitus so I had to have a 3rd surgery to have a stint put in. We don't have health insurance at all right now since January of this year. In October I can sign us up for the new health insurance exchange, but it won't be in effect until Jan 2014.

In April last year I was diagnosed pre-diabetes, so I could have it by now or not. But, I don't think this is diabetes. It would be a more low blood sugar reaction and I doubt I'd be having hypoglycemia. Plus I don't have the other symptoms of diabetes like thirst, peeing a lot (even on my lithium I'm doing good with my fluids and not excessivly thirsty,) blurry vision, etc.

I don't know about sleep apnea. I feel I've been sleeping really well, actually. All week has been good with me getting to bed on time and waking up without feeling ovelry tired.

My hormone tests always come out normal. I have a good thyroid, too.
