I recently was switched while in the psych ward and am having terrible muscle pain. Ibuprophen takes the edge off, baths barely touch it, I've been walking for exercise and to distract from the pain and I'm running out of ideas. The Abilify has taken away the hallucinations and Cogentin has stopped the shaking. Has anyone else gone through this? Do I just wait out the pain? Will it really end? Last time I had side effects this bad, it was tremors from Zoloft and lasted months.

I've gone from SSRIs to antipsychotics as well. Abilify made me very aggressive and I've tried Resperidol, and Geodon, with varying side affects. One or two made my calf muscles spasm. Tell your pdoc ASAP. You shouldn't have this much pain and discomfort.

I'm scared I'm going to have to switch while being home. At least in the hospital I was safe from myself and my family was safe from me.

Switching within class usually isn't that bad. I switched from risperidone to abilify outside of the hospital and had no effects at all it just takes a couple of days.

Yeah I've switched from risperidone to Abilify/aripiprazole to quetiapine/Seroquel and back to Abilify without a hospital stay in sight
![]() It sounds like you'd rather go back inpatient though because you're scared of what might happen? Keep in close contact with pdoc and see how it goes. Hopefully you'll be fine and won't need to go back in, but there's always that option if you need it. All the best icky ![]() *Willow* |
