Haven't been on it but the great thing is it works on two different pathways in your brain the first is the standard dopamine but the second is glutamate which basically isn't touched by other meds. It works for a lot of people where other meds don't work but you have to have your blood monitored because it can lower your white blood cell count.

I've just started it as well so can't offer much as far as my experience with it. Only side effect I've noticed so far is excess saliva production. I always drool a lot while I'm sleeping. It's kind of my last resort as well.

How is the med not helping you? What comparison are you making?? Its worked for me but I've been on other meds that did a great job but made me impotent > Invega and Geodon were effective with the hallucinations but left me with ED. Always had sexual issues with the meds clozapine included which is causing retrograde ejaculation but this is not so bad comparatively for me. Prior to this I was on Seroquel when the hallucinations started out; tried zyprexa and hallucinations remained. < Less erectile issues with these. So far clozapine has been the best and may very well stay with it for the rest of my lifetime. Drooling is an issue and nurse visitations on a regular basis is kind've crazy but this is how it rolls with cloza> gotta have weekly blood examinations. Most...most of the hallucinations are gone.
Thanks for this!

My daughter has been on.for about a month.
So far only auditory has remained. She feels its no better than other AP's. I agree but may wait a little longer to see if it improves.

Iv been told clozaril is gold standard med. But I have trouble taking it consistantly and when I do I get side effects like drooling sleeping alot bed wetting palpations and feeling hungry. I feel how it is now is as good as its gonna get. I.e symptoms arent going to get any better than they are now. Thanks 4 the replys. Burtonfan

oh bed wetting wouldn't want that I just thinking about this post last night as I went to bed, I had the urge to pee and when I do very little comes out, so I hold my bladder over night and it's sore in the morning with urge to pee but I am able to empty it completely. I sure if I switch to clazopine, I will surely wet my bed, I rather take a blue pill then wet the bed. how embarrassing, I mean both are embarrassing. I'd choose the lesser of two evils.
