I have been in the hospital a total of 10 times since 1998. My first time was in 1998 but I should have gone in 1996 as well but I didn't want to miss class. I was in a hospital for severe cases one time, then the one that is part of the regular hospital 8 times and once in Oregon before we moved. The last time I was in the hospital for psychosis was April of this year. Sometimes the hospital stay helped and other times it made my condition worse. One time the stay was so bad because there were bullies who chose me as their target. There is one doctor at the hospital that doesn't believe a word coming out of my mouth. Luckily last time the doctor believed me but that meant I had to stay longer. I hate staying in the hospital because its so boring. At least in the April stay I made friends. So how many times were you in the hospital and the experiences that you had.

Just the once for five days, that was two years ago. I made a friend Jessica that made the place better but it was so boring I was hallucinating even more to fill the void. All of the puzzles they put out for us were missing pieces and there was only half a deck of cards. I used to play checkers with this other girl who could barely talk. If I wasn't insane before going in I would have been insane on the way out.

I've been in psych ward 3 times. First two for 2 weeks and third for a month. First two were when i was misdiagnosed so they didn't acknowledge my 'psychosis' and the third time i was sectioned and diagnosed with a psychotic disorder.

I was just recently sent to a crisis center by a doctor, sent twice actually. The first time they let me go no questions asked but the second time they actually wanted to stay as an in patient. I didn't stay. I got scared. Maybe I should've stayed.

I've been in the hospital 7 times for psychosis. It's not something I like to talk about as most of those experiences have been profoundly negative and downright traumatizing.

Twice and it was nasty. I managed to avoid hospitalization the last time I was ill. I wasn't willing to go, so the doctor had a social worker visit me once a week at home. I also had two psychiatric appointments a week. I complied with treatment to avoid being forced into hospital.

I hate hospitals. I hate hospitals. I hate hospitals. I hate hospitals. I really hate hospitals.

Ive been in hospital three times. My most recent I was in for 6 weeks and two days. It was a very good experience for me. I was surrounded by understanding nurses and I had the best pdoc. He was very good and they were the reason why I got through my psychosis. But it's been short lived and I'm going back into that headspace where everyone is saying that what I'm thinking is wrong and shouldn't be the way it is ATM. But whatever I'm surviving and that's what I'll keep on doing.

Hey Didgee, do you think that is something my pdoc would recommend or something of the sort when I get that bad?

I have been hospitalized 4 times so far. The first time I was sedated so I don't remember the whole trip going there and didn't even know I was sent to a different state until the next day to a institution. The others I was sent via ambulance to the hospital and it's not something I can do again since I work. I should had been hospitalized this year, but my significant other kept me home and took care of me.

It depends on how ill you are. Hospitalization was suggested but not really necessary since I wasn't a threat to myself and/or others. I told the doctor I did not want to go into hospital, because I had some negative experiences there.

Ive been hospitalized 3 times. My last stay was 19 days and I had to go to court and was court ordered to see my pdoc every 4 weeks to ensure I stay on my meds. If I stop my meds or miss my Dr visits I will be put back in the mental hospital. That was in February. I have to follow the court order for a year.

Thank you all for responding to my question. I am sorry that some of you had to be hospitalized many times. When I was hospitalized it was because I was a threat to myself, never others. But it was for psychotic breaks.
