I journaled in my late teens/early twenties. It was also during the time when I seem to have been having my delusional episode. One of my journals is written all in markers of different colors, in a poetry type of writing. And some of the entries are written in spirtals instead of straight lines. I actualy am not sure what happened to that one. But other journals just seem like normal teenager girl type of journals.

I don't journal any more. Before and after that time period it's always been hard for me to keep journal, so it's an interesting feature in my history.

Otherwise, I write stories in my story blogs whenever I can. I wanted to be a writer.

My son kept a journal for a short while in 2009 when he was between episodes. Then he trashed his apartment and ran off to another state. I went to clean out his apartment, because he'd left rotting food everywhere, and I found the journal in the trash. It was too badly damaged to save. Sometimes I wish it wasn't lost.

Then during his last episode and for a short while afterward he had notebooks where he wrote down a bunch of stuff. He was looking through them a few weeks ago, and he said, "What was I thinking?" I guess it all seemed important when he wrote it down. Now it seems like gibberish.

Costello... that's exactly how I felt when I remembered about the building and the secret agents etc.... what was I thinking??? It all felt like teh world tipped over.

Newtus: it reminds me of my mother-in-law before she lost her house. After she had her psychotic episode she isolated herself inher room. She covered teh walls in sayings about god and heaven that she thought up or would read. Slowly she started putting the sayings everywhere and was able to come out of the room. Her house had tons of sayings on colored paper and markers everywhere, because the sayings kept her safe. She doesn't need that now.

I've kept journals with spotty regularity since I was 14. Mundane stuff. Existential/identity crises. Secrets. Prose on daydreams or delusions. Scribbles. Lots of stuff. Sometimes it helps & sometimes it just passes the time to distract me.

I've kept journals off and on since I was a teenager. It does help, it helps to get **** out of my head. Sometimes putting it on paper can make it less frightening.
