Hi, I wasn't sure where to post this story, so I hope it's ok to put it here. I thought it was interesting, it's the first I've heard of this. Left-handed people are more prone to schizophrenia.

It was a small sample size, so it would be interesting if they did this study with a larger patient population.

Quote:
Being left-handed has been linked to many mental disorders, but Yale researcher Jadon Webb and his colleagues have found that among those with mental illnesses, people with psychotic disorders like schizophrenia are much more likely to be left-handed than those with mood disorders like depression or bipolar syndrome.

The new study is published in the October-December 2013 issue of the journal SAGE Open.

Thanks for this!

And those ambidextrous like me are more prone to having both a psychotic disorder and a mood one?

Weird. I'm right handed. But I do some things with my left hand. My friend who is ambidexterous says that's a sign I'm also ambidexterous. I can write with my left, but it looks like a 5 year old writing. I can also write with my feet. I think it's more normal than she realizes.
