Are memory problems a symptom of schizophrenia/psychosis? Lately on top of everything else, I've been having problems with memory... Like deja vu and having trouble remembering "important" things, not being sure how I got places... Sometimes I see/do something I know I've seen/done before, but it feels like I'm seeing/doing it for the first time... When something triggers a memory, it feels like I'm being tricked... Very hard to explain... Sometimes I have temporal disturbances/dislocation, which is when it feels like events are happening out of order or that I have time traveled (albeit only slightly, not major time travel). Does this happen to anyone else?

Oh and I forgot to mention that I have a lot of trouble keeping track of time and days... Like I might forget to eat, shower, or get dressed some days. I feel like I have been in this state for as long as I remember, but factually I guess that's not true...

Yes this absolutely happens to me (my diagnosis is Bipolar). I feel that my meds have a hell of a lot to do with it. I havent found much to help with the memory side of things but you are not alone

I'm like this too sometimes. I think memory problems are pretty common with mental illness in general, to varying degrees.

I agree with the medication playing part in it. I forget what day of the week it is, I forget to put the milk back in the fridge, I'll go to do something then 5 seconds later forget what I'm about to do. It's annoying but I've found with some things it's best to put post it notes everywhere or alarms on your phone to help you remember.

I have bad memory and I'm not sure what causes it, but it sure is frustrating. Usually I have to do a task asap or I will forget it and end up not doing it. I write a lot of notes to help me and I have my boyfriend help me with remembering tasks that need to be done.

I'm going to start by saying that I am not on meds and I have huge issues with my memory. I forget things people say, I put things down and instantly lose them. I forget what I'm doing, saying, or reading. I forget things I want to do later, even if it was really important to me or others. I go to the store and forget things even if I have a list.
This is part of cognitive function and it is a symptom in a lot of mental illness. But losing track of time and what day it is may not be. But, I used to forget to eat all the time when I was at home and not working.
