Can any please explain to me as to how Mental Health workers / Psychiatrists get to schedule someone 7 days in a Psych ward for "inappropriate" phone calls and to be deemed a "public nuisance" and forced to take medication 100 Hadol injection every month

What should of the symptoms have been, what should of i been aware of?

I have previously symptoms of Delusions of Grand Duar, Paranoia etc between 2002 - 2004 and in 2008 increased Hadol for exhibitionism & Paranoia and now in 2014 back on the same dose after 3 months of it

I honestly believe Mental Health are trying to make up symptoms for one thing, they have shown me no documents and told me very little.

Legally they can't, not unless a judge signed a civil commitment order. Have you ever been to court? Has a judge ordered you into treatment?

So I just looked up involuntary commitment in Australia...apparently you do not get a court trial there and the rules vary from region to region...it seems very unfair I am sorry you are experiencing this...

I wasn't paying attention to the fact that he was in Australia. But in general, the only person who can tell you what to do is a judge. Did a judge order this treatment? If not then it's likely not lawful. natural law.

I dont know much about the laws in relation to Mental Health here in Australia, but that is what happen, i was sitting at home minding my own business, next min i get a buzz at my door and 2 Mental Health workers are at my door demanding to get, i let them in, and they demanded me answer there questions, then they insisted i come with them to the Hospital to be assessed, there was no such assessment, next thing they said, i can either come into the ward as a voluntary or involuntary patent, it was not like until 12 hrs later i was then assessed.

What should of the symptoms have been, what should of i been aware of?

Here in Aussie u don't need a court order from a judge. I should know....I was sectioned about three months ago for four weeks. And that was because I posed a risk to myself and others at the time.

Hey Ash, it's nice to know there are other Aussie's on here too, it would be really cool to hear your story you have to tell, i dont know about you, but if your trusting enough, maybe we could swap numbers in PM and get to talk on the phone, we can say so much more to each other then as opposed to sending messages here ?

Hi, Thanx for the link to the SF, i am aware of that organisation, however i don't recall if they have a number i can call of if indeed anyone can help me..i will have to google that

From all the people i have been talking too, the only real hope i have of ever getting away from Port Macquarie Mental Health is if indeed i can get a Private Psych, No Psych in Port Macquarie want anything to do with me, apparently this issue is it's a "Conflict of Interest" for then to take me on..

The unknown issue i still face to get an alternate private Psych is i still have to find someone whom is willing to be my private Shrink, i will have to travel a minimum of 80 mins - 2 hrs round trip or more to get to see this Shrink, then the associated fees for a assessments and reports is all an unknown factor at this point in time, maybe tomorrow i will have more idea if indeed i can get to see one and when and how much etc

I have been aware of getting a private shrink and have tried the local shrinks but to no avail, i never gave it much thought to travel outside of my home town until just recently this has been suggested by a few..

Because of the reality of my life of the last decade and the thoughts of the duration of my life under the control of Mental Health and being continually tormented by them for the rest of my life, i have had thoughts of ending my life, i have to say i have no concrete plans in taking my life atm, since the suggestion of seeing a Shrink outside my home town has given me some inspiration of some hope for the future to be possible able to get away from them ..

Are there any Psychiatrists, Doctors or anyone here whom feels they have the professional capacity to answer a heap of questions..?

I have a pretty lengthy document to either email someone or post on here, but am not sure if it's too big for here ?

Can someone please advise ?

Unfortunately Spacetrucker, this is a peer to peer mental health website that does not offer professional services. No one here can act in any professional manner as this site is not geared to do so. I'm sorry.

If the mental health system wanted this fixed it would be easy, just commit all of the judges for the day. National judge involuntary commitment day.... I like the sound of that, perspective of what happens on the other side of the bench is always a good thing in an impartial legal system.

I was just reading more about the involuntary commitment process in Australia. A process for a tribunal hearing and appeal is defined, although it seems to be rather pointless.

Does anyone know who has the most progressive mental health system?
Thanks for this!

Apparently involuntary commitment is allowed everywhere so the answer to that is no one!
