Top 10 Abused Prescription Drugs - Listverse

I mentioned something about APs being available of the street should the changes to medicare part d antipsychotic coverage happen, but I couldn't remember what they were used for...scroll to number nine...apparently they are popular in prison as is but on the street they are used to buffer cocaine and amphetamines likely due to the fact that those two drugs work through dopamine...

Anyway this is just for general interest...I mean there are people out there that actually want to take APs? That's interesting to me...

APs are very much abused. they use it to calm down. people on drugs.

i used to be prescribed ambien. its like heaven in a pill. i loved that stuff. then i got into abusing it. the more you take it the less it works.

i take xanax now

I almost went onto ambien but then I fell asleep that night after a week of not sleeping...pdoc wanted me to try melatonin first and I never even tried that...last time he called back he said something like you're taking melatonin right...I said no somehow every time we talk about my sleeping problem somehow I just end up falling asleep...he was like...oh well we should talk about it more then...

Yeah seriously I worry about abusing some of the sleep/anxiety meds but I doubt I would....when I had surgery they gave me Percocet/oxycodone I took one pill in the hospital and felt like I was going to puke....they gave me an anti-nausea drug and then when I got home I never took another Percocet because they made me so sick threw them away my aunt was all like OMG you should have given them to me!

When I was in the inpatient bipolar unit, there was a girl who had just gotten put on Seroquel (which I'm on, 500 mg)... She was either mildly bipolar or just depressed, but I think they put her on it because she had ODD and could get aggressive... At night, after she took it (only like 100-200 mg if I recall correctly), her speech would slow down like she was drunk, she said she felt high/stoned (she had taken street drugs before, so she had a reference) and that everything was going in slow motion. She said she enjoyed it.

Unfortunately I have never gotten such a reaction.

Wow really seroquel had no impact on me....they never got me up to the full therapeutic dose because I had a reaction the second night but it was at least a couple hundred...still no sleep....I absolutely could not sleep more than 2 hours per night while psychotic.

My aunt has fibromyalgia so I'm not sure it's abuse...like 15 years ago when this happened that wasn't considered a real disease so doctors wouldn't give pain meds for it...I mean I remember thinking she was faking it for attention or something because it wasn't considered legitimate at the time but it would be like people saying we didn't really hear voices that we're just making it up. I feel kind if bad about it now.
