Although I do have a neutral belief in the paranormal, sometimes it gets the better of me. I'll hear a story about something that seems 'out of the ordinary' and I get super paranoid.

At the moment I'm dead terrified because I think something or someone is out there, outside my window, in my house, following me and I can't concentrate clearly. I feel like I'm staring through a cloud/fog and I'm freaking out. I keep checking behind my back, outside my window (I closed the curtains to make myself feel more secure) and my heart is racing.

Every noise is freaking me out. My cat managed to scare the life out of me whilst he was sitting outside my window. This hasn't happened in a while, the last time it happened was when I first heard about an internet horror meme, Slenderman (stupid to believe it, I know, but I thought I was being stalked by it).

All those spam emails I got as a kid that said things like "If you don't forward this, this ghost will be out to get you etc..." I would strongly believe (most kids did though) but I'd still get freaked out, even after I forwarded the email. Even the jokey ones on Tumblr, I freak out and scroll by and act like I never saw it and then get super paranoid because I think I'm going to die when I go to sleep.

Try to avoid triggering events...ie don't read or watch scary things....when I was sick I ended up watching Disney/Pixar because I knew it would not put bad thoughts into my head. I stopped reading the news for a while etc. If noises are scaring you turn on a fan or the radio or something else to block them...

Hi, miss Antisocialbutterfly. I have schizophrenia. Only in my experience of the condition the paranormal never bothered me. Everyone has a different experience of it. All I can tell you is I'm pretty certain nothing paranormal is after you.

When I get paranoid what helps me is doing something that distracts my mind. It can be anything. It can be a Facebook game, play money poker, if you have the concentration to read, read. I don't suggest TV because for me TV never kept my concentration. Another thing is treating yourself to a nice hot bath.

Bring this up to your psychiatrist and psychologist when you have the chance. I hope this helps.

I get the same thing, if possible try to speak to people, phone someone if you can. Other than that I agree with SometimesPsychotic, watch something or read a book to try and ease the fear.

unfortunately, i have auditory hallucination and funny, mine deals with the government. i used to believe in supernatural stuff to but i think i strongly disbelieved in it so now...my story is that im dealing with the government. maybe if you can focus on wht you want to believe...maybe that it is your conscious talking out to you...i dunno. try to focus on something more "acceptable" to you. which ever might be. maybe than you dont have to be too paranoid...

oh yeah, and trying to listen to new music helped out a bit too. like forget about the music that you listen to when you were having a hard time and start listening to new ones to forget about your past memories. hope it helps!

When I get anxious, I listen to music or play a game to try take my mind off it a bit.
