Woman fighting for prescription warnings after husband kills twi - WNCN: News, Weather

So this is about the role of Prozac/Paxil other ssri's in inducing psychosis in depressed individuals....logically to me if an antidepressant can induce mania I don't see why it can't also induce psychosis in that state. I don't think this is common but the outcomes are tragic....it's also interesting to me that antidepressants are typically considered so safe and normal compared to APs that your family doc can prescribe them and yet they have a much stronger black box warning...and seem to induce/worsen mental illness in some cases. This is exceptionally worrying given the current trend toward forced treatment for psych conditions...

Antidepressants have always worsened my condition. They've induced mania and psychosis for me.

Hi Sometimes psychotic. I'm not too sure about antidepressants inducing psychosis. I take anti psychotics and antidepressants.I was diagnosed with paranoid schizophrenia.
I think the Haldol that I take is helping with the psychosis. I still feel depressed though. I also take meds for anxiety.

I know when you take certain combinations of drugs, it can be harmful. My pdoc is careful about that.

I didn't mean to imply it was common or that ADs were unsafe for people with psychosis but it appears in some rare cases they can induce psychosis in otherwise stable people and I think there should be a warning in that regard....

Ditto. Serotonergic antidepressants really ***** me up! I strongly believe they should come with a black box warning... FDA Data Indicates Over 40,000 Homicides From Antidepressants » CCHR New England
