Honestly I think it's probably a delusion....it makes more sense to me that you a single person are wrong about it than everyone else on the planet being wrong. I say this having been wrong about a lot of stuff when I was sick and it all made sense to me once I took medicine and I wondered how I could ever think some of that stuff at all.

That's the thing about delusions they seem absolutely true when you're sick...there isn't a lot people could say to convince anyone that they aren't true...if it were that easy they wouldn't be delusions...but let's consider a possibility. Some of us here hear voices and other stuff. What if when you are listening to pop music that's actually a hallucination that you're hearing and not brainwashing? What if no one else hears it because your brain is creating it. I was just telling lillybird about how i could change the words to songs and stuff....you can hear any kind of sound...you can smell and taste things....it gets really wild. So given that people can create things like this in their minds almost like dreaming but in real life how would you know if you did that? Sometimes you have to ask other people if they see/hear/smell/taste it too. That's how you find your way back to the world everyone else experiences....

It's not ALWAYS true that if 30 ppl are telling you something and u see it differently that you're wrong. But anyway...

They are making us think all is good, dumbing us down, and even controlling us like mindles zombies!

I would certainly consider that possibility, but I still feel like the are brainwashing us wow 1 word a second I'm tuping FAST!!

Well I do think they're trying to dumb us down. I don't think it's brainwashing exactly, just a way to distract us from the important issues. But u don't have to be dumbed down...

I'm having such a horrible day. The voices keep giving me commands, expecting me to do stuff for them. The more I refuse, the more it's taring me apart emotionally. I'm just sitting here bawling my eyes out because I can't cope. I don't know what to do anymore. I see my case worker tomorrow anyway. I guess I can just offload onto her. Well, if I last that long before I start obeying the commands. This is torture.

The fact that you're still open is other possibilities is really good....this is one of the reasons I think you might benefit from some something other than meds....

My motivation and laziness are getting worse and worse since my last 'break'. I used to have so much enthusiasm. Could it be the meds doing this?

Yes....the meds can be sedating....I have no idea about the one you are on becuase we don't have it here. You could ask to try something else....the other possibility is if you have mood symptoms a lot of people go from something like mania to depression after a break. If it's that then adding an AD might help...

Yes I got my phd well before I got sick though...my onset was at 36 and I was lucky enough to have a supportive boss while I recovered.....

Yes....honestly not a big deal....old labs are notorious for being full of stuff they shouldn't be....radioactivity is common and usually at much higher levels than what we use now...the regulations were simply not the same back then. This is only likely to happen with the government though because space is too valuable in universities. We don't store things in a way that can escape and it's standard to toss everything in a biohazard bag that is going to get autoclaved or incinerated so even if they had no idea what it was it's not like someone was going to open it up and play with it they're just going to kill it.

This is true....30 people are insufficient. Several billion well they may have a point. At the same time one person you trust might be enough.

In cbt we broke it done as probabilities so we would list....

List all the options and then make a pie chart assigning them percent values. You don't actually decide what is true so much as you keep in your mind that there is always more than one possibility....the world is grey not typically black or white.
