So this is weird....I just got my blood/urine results back and it looks like I have leukocytes in my urine....this tends to mean a UTI....I also had some really mild hip pain...like not even like a bruise would cause very mild. I'm looking for possible associations and apparently relapse with sz is hugely associated with UTI. It's not clear whether it's causative or just associated with in some way but it's a fairly huge effect....we tend to see 2-4 fold changes as meaningful in science so this is clearly much more.

Urinary tract infections 29 times more likely in schizophrenia relapse -- ScienceDaily

I so want to culture my urine right now....hip pain has gone away and the sleep issues were far less and I didn't have any visual hallucinations last night although I did have one auditory of laughter just before falling asleep. So hopeful this is just transient.....

Wow that's interesting. How do they figure that stuff out anyways? Is it that somebody happened to see a chart of people with sz and their physical health or something?

So there was already a link with dementia and uti's so that's a starting point....but a lot of people with sz are inpatient when relapsed so they need physical care as well as mental within the psych ward...I mean if this is in 35% of your patients vs a 3-5% normal rate it's going to fall into the obvious category....I mean can you imagine every third person you saw had a uti? That would be weird right? You might just sift through charts to find out then write it up...
