Sleep has been an issue for me since I gave birth. I take benadryl, lorazepam and doxepin for sleep every night. I've been on either doxepin or amitriptyline for sleep since I was 21.

I used to only need doxepin, but as I've said many times everything has changed since the psychosis.

I only got 3 hrs of sleep last night. Going to bed early tonight.

If sleep is a problem for you, you can propose a change of med to your doctor. I.e. with seroquel you will sleep deep enough......

I was on seroquel and yes it helped tremendously with sleep. But, I gained too much weight on it.

I've researched what would be the best meds for me for sleep and I feel comfortable with the ones I'm on. I do usually sleep but my PTSD symptoms were flaring up and I think I was also entering a mixed episode. Luckily the risperdal put the brakes on it.

Anyway, thanks though for the suggestion.

Yeah, it sounds like you need to turn your schedule around.

I've been a chronic insomniac since I was a child.

I take trazadone to sleep and sometimes it still doesn't work.

I slept pretty poorly last night, which is disappointing because I'd seemed to have broken the cycle the last few days...

I have a very hard time falling asleep and staying asleep. Benadryl makes me hyper and paranoid. Trazadone a seroquil made me feel drunk-ish but did nothing towards knocking me out. Left towards my own devices I will sleep about 2-3 hours per night. Ambien works pretty consistently to give me about 6 hours of sleep per night but I have to remember to take it early enough. It is what I currently have a prescription for, although I fear it is going to be taken away. I often have an inverse reaction to meds, ie, sedatives making me hyper/anxious, so it is nice to find a sleep med that makes me actually sleepy. I think my fear of being drugged may be overriding the drug effect in some cases, leaving me in "flight" mode, and in other cases, it may just be my metabolism or something, causing the drug to act in an undesireable fashion.

Hydroxyzine hcl knocks me out fast. It's not visteril tho that's the pamoate version. I'm usually out in les then 30 minutes but I have to lay down right away after taking it. I've had sleep problems for many years.

That's interesting, bc ambien gave me the drunk feeling and I didn't sleep much on it.

How are you Gretta good to see u around.

I only got 5 hrs bc my son kept waking me up, ugh. I feel tired. I need at least 6 to feel ok anymore.

So last night I took my meds early was all ready to go to bed early and then....the power went out. No storm, nothing. 5th time this summer!

I sleep with the tv on. So my son and I lit candles and waited for it to come on. Finally came on at about 11pm. Fell asleep at 1am or so. Now I keep waking up. Ugh...took more meds. I just don't know...

I slept at 3.30 a.m. and woke up at 6.45 a.m. because I was feeling like crap and had to dial the hotline. The lady was really unhelpful and a bit rude so I dialed back... to get her again... Resorted to self-medicating after that

Ended up feeling this afternoon. Slept from 7-9 p.m. and am up again now (it's 1 a.m.)

After my insomnia two nights ago I'm glad to say I slept reasonably well last night. Shall have to see what happens tonight, seems to vary a lot at the moment.

No, I didn't get enough sleep last night. It was very humid, then I had to get up early.

Not a whine. Just sharing.
