Hello ma peeps,

I've just started getting back into programming and am not the most creative person you could meet. I feel I am at a brick wall and behind that wall is an awesome application of some sort, maybe a game, maybe a resource for information, maybe something that could help someone, something.

To start off I'd like a project that I'll actually be able to finish, so something simple enough.

Has anyone ever thought to themselves, "mmm if I could code I'd make a..."

Anything I make at this point will be distributed freely, hopefully on the Google Play store, so don't sue me if I use your idea. No one is going to make any money from this, it's just a beginner programming assignment. Though if actually manage to make something you will be credited in the app.

So what should I do?

I could have asked this on any forum but I wanted to get input from my friends here as we have a lot in common.

Also, if anyone has any coding experience and is interested in making a project, tell me and we could try it as a team.

Thanks guys!

I'm not sure how you'd do it but I've always wanted to make a app that turns touch screen computer screen and with your finger, use it as a white board to write notes and stuff but it only be responsive to your finger. Not the mouse.

How about a digital self care box with tips for fun things to do if you're feeling low....you could use the shake to shuffle feature for a new tip.

That sounds amazing. Would you be willing to provide tips for people if they're low? If it gets made, as a collaborator, would look great on your cv.

Kinda. But no. Like imagine your desktop being a touch screen white board with all your normal icons and stuff on it. So instead of a background picture, you have a whiteboard you can write on with your finger.

Yes, I have. I'd like to create my own screen saver and an organizer application.

I started teaching myself how to code in December, but another project put it on hold. After I'm finished my paper clock I'm going to return to it. I cannot do both at the same time since both require a lot of reading and testing.

Sorry, I don't have any suggestions.

Peeps. I guess this means people.

SometimesPsychotic: I've been thinking about this digital self care box all day, would you be able to contribute some of your paintings to be used as backgrounds on the different pages? That's a big ask so it's ok if you can't. I'm not very good at art, just coding and I've loved some of the beautiful paintings you've posted in the happiness thread. I think it would make a nice theme to the app.

Seriously, I can use all that? Wow, if this gets made and it will (thinking positively) you could have your art and pictures on an android app. Is that ok? I think it'd be awesome.

I'm thinking of building in an sdk called monogame, here you make one set of code and they'll refine that code into code that suits ios and then maybe windows phones.

If I use Android Studio I'll program the app in Java.
If I use monodevelop I'll program the app in C#(windows phone) and port it to iOS and Android

My foundations are with C so I'm sticking with languages also based heavily on C. I don't know the first thing about Objective-C but it's on my list

The Java route will be my first attempt anyway.
Thanks for this!

Right on chickenfoot! I don't have any suggestions but it's very cool you're gonna be doing that. The most technical thing I've done on computers was make a small website for college. It was fun!

I wish you luck!
