Was put back on anti psychotics today. Trying out a second drug as the first ones side effects werent so good on me. Trying Seroquel starting at 100mg then reviewed each week. Just frustrated, I was managing things for a while after stopping taking anti ps the symptoms werent so intrusive and then things slowly got a bit weird and then past few days got weirder quicker. Asked for something extra on top of benzos for anxiety but they said at this point anti ps were first port of call. Just was dxed paranoid schizophrenia a few years ago and hoped that it was just like maybe only a short term thing and wanted to be ok without them..

I'm sorry going med-free didn't work out the way you had hoped.
I think Seroquel is one of the better APs. It gets a high user score online and I believe it has fewer side-effects for most people than most other APs. On this list it's the 2nd from top AP with 100+ reviews: Atypical antipsychotics | Drugs.com The only side-effect that bothers me a little is having to pee twice every night, so Seroquel works well for me. Also, I get a little tired some days from the morning dose. I'm on 600 mg Seroquel/Quetiapine + 5 mg Zyprexa/Olanzapine. |

I'm on 800mg but it barely does anything. Seroquel xr is the best I've been on but it's not enough for me. My brain seems to not want to use the medicine. I was taking 60mg of haldol with the 800mg of seeoquel but like I said, meds either don't work or turn the "TV sound down by a notch" is how I explain it to my doctor. Zyprexia was ok ish but for me crap, like it helped a great deal, there were just a few areas that I was getting symptoms still and I was on 20mg +5mg prn and I was basically just sleeping 12-16 hours a day, I lost all creativity (which as an illustrator its my life) - I didnt draw at all for a year after graduating and had to force myself to create things for my degree which I was finishing in hospital once I was off them I became creative and my thought function came back which I liked. I couldnt think. I couldnt function. There were other side effects but these are main ones. For me the side effects made me not able to function so badly I didnt have a great quality of life. These things are meant to improve your quality of life and keep you stable.
I took my first dose of seroquel and crashed out for an hour. I know if it works that will be good and hopefully I can function better on this one, but it just makes me feel really really sad and frustrated ![]() |
