Hey guys, Im in a really desperate situation right now and might hospitalize myself very soon. I have experienced this before but not quite to this degree. I keep having a very disturbing sleep issue where it literally feels like it is impossible for me to sleep. No I dont mean regular insomnia, I mean it feels like I literally am incapable of sleeping, as if my brain is being "blocked" from producing it or something. I am diagnosed with a dissociative disorder but im beginning to question that diagnosis as I have researched what Im feeling and came across brain encephalitis and many other similar serious things that need attention immediately, which is why im considering going to the ER. Before I consider going to the hospital, has anyone else experienced this with psychosis or dissociation? Or does anyone know what this is? Is it mania or hypo mania?

I've experienced "blocked" thoughts but not "blocked" sleep.
That sounds more like insomnia to me than psychosis

I am not s professional though
But to me that is how ibsonmia feels, like you honestly can't sleep

Well its not really just that. Its more like, I dont feel tired ...but at the same time I do. Its like I do but I dont. Like my mind isnt tired but my body is. I know I SHOULD be sleeping which is the only reason I try (because I dont feel tired) but its like when I try I feel like I lost the ability to sleep, as if its not a part of my routine anymore. Feels like I could just stay up for hours which is making me think mania or hypo mania possibly

In all likelihood it probably is mental health related... however calling/seeing your doctor would definitely be a good idea.

I don't think a trip to the E.R is necessary, as if you had any sort of serious health problem, there would be other symptoms. I assume you are well apart from the wakefulness physically?

Anyway a doctor will rule out any other more serious causes if there is any cause for concern & will probably prescribe you something to help you sleep short term. Certainly a good idea to tell your psychiatrist too.

I hope you manage to get some rest soon though.
