As far as I know, it cant, but that's until I pass out due to malnutrition after three days of not eating / eating very little. So has anybody else experienced this? Is this some sort of comorbidity? I dunno. Can it cause an ED?

I don't have sz but when I was psychotic I more or less stopped eating and lost a lot of weight. I thought I needed to cut out sugar and everything including good for you things like milk has sugar in it----I think also my head was so busy I didn't really get hungry/forgot to eat, however when I was in the hospital and food got put in front of me I ate it so it wasn't like a real eating disorder at all. I also got dehydrated because I developed issues with thinking someone was putting caffeine in my water at night and sleeping pills in the day so I had sort of rituals of how I would get my water so it wasn't poisoned.

I agree with Sometimes psychotic.

But really, I think the meds taken for Schizophrenia spectrum disorders could cause an ED. Or at least, they did for me. I gained so much weight from that, that I stopped eating eventually. But I'm just one person, that doesn't mean that happens to everyone.

I have a voice in my head that degrades me and stuff (everyone does) and it forces me not to eat anything with carbs, sugar, or anything like that. The only thing I eat is filling things like chia, and psyllium, multimineral pills, and cheese chips. So I have the same internal degrading voice and all, but I don't have the annorexia nervosa part, I guess.

Yeah for me it was a voice telling me to eat low carb and order diet books that I never even cooked from. I called her the nutritionist.

If by an eating disorder you mean excessive intake of food, then I can assure you that eating disorders can definitely be caused by the anti psychotics you are taking for your schizophrenia.

Anna was around since I was around 7. abilify took her away. I couldn't eat or drink anything without her screaming at me. So yes one (only) voice caused me to have an ED.

When I first read this title I thought that ED meant erectile dysfunction which I know a little about. I didn't realize it can also mean an eating disorder. I learn something knew every day.
