I've talked to some friends about it, but only my best friend has told me to do so if I feel it. Everyone else tells me I can't run and hide at the hospital every time things get too much. I haven't been in like.. A year and a half now. In my head, it's more of a safety thing. Who actually enjoys going? But other people see it as me running and hiding from my problems. Regardless of what I say, they tell me I need to learn to live with it. What would you do?

I dunno. Even though there are parts of being ip that I miss (the social aspect, the food, the structured days and nights, etc), i absolutely hate being locked in. I just hate it.
If you feel you need the hospital, you should go. Maybe see if you could trust them to try new or different meds, that could be potentially a huge benefit too. ![]() ![]() ![]() |

For me I hate the hospital so unless I'm suicidal or homicidal or need a non-simple med change then there is no reason to go.

Going inpatient to escape the world is a very bad idea. I know people do this and they eventually end up with an extensive history of hospitalizations. This isn't living. I call it running away from life. As long as you have specific goals, and don't plan to misuse the hospital you should be okay. What do you hope to gain from an stay in the hospital?
It is better to discuss this with a psychiatrist in an outpatient clinic rather than the emergency department. You have some good friends.
