So I stumbled upon the making of Coraline and I send a video to my girlfriend. She asked me if I've watched it and I said that I only watched 10 minutes of it because it was quite trippy, but was thinking about finishing it and she said "Do not watch it, it will trigger your psychosis for sure" So I'm interested, someone watched it? How did it go? And why I should not watch it? Is it that bad?

That movie freaked me out and I can't believe they had the nerve to market it as a children's movie. I took my 3 year old and had to walk out of the movie. Don't see it.

I didn't think it was that bad however I watched it when well-----as far as psychosis I was limiting myself to disney and pixar movies so I agree that what you watch can be triggering and I would not have watched something like coraline while psychotic.

I've seen it, however it didn't necessarily have any affect on me.
I agree, it was rather peculiar. Not something I would watch while psychotic.

They pose as humans even though they have no understanding of the human heart; they eat even though they've never experienced hunger; they study even though they have no interest in academics; they seek friendship even though they do not know how to love. If I were to encounter such monsters, I would likely be eaten by them... because in truth, I am that monster.

Yes, my son was 6. The cartoon channels advertised it like it was for little kids and didn't show anything scary in the commercial. I think I made them refund our money, I was so mad. My son and I looked at each other 15 minutes into the movie and left the theater.

I just asked my son, now 13, and he still remembers freaking out because the mother was evil and tried to kill the daughter. And he remembers we went and asked the theater manager if that was a kid's movie and he said 'yes'.

I'm a huge Tim Burton fan and like movies of that "type". I agree that Coraline might not be best for children and if you are active in your psychosis, I can absolutely see if being triggering. During my psychosis, I can only imagine what it could have done. But if you are currently well, and it seems interesting to you, you might enjoy it. It's trippy, definately a bit scary and unique. Maybe watch with a friend or family. Good luck.

I agree with many of the posts here. It freaked my daughter out and I think she was about 10. The concepts are not for children under 13 in my opinion and it should never have been ,marketed as a children's movie because those concepts would not be understood by children like the corpse bride which frankly I found quite sick. Its not like say Shrek which had some adult 'jokes' inserted which would go over a young child's head anyway (multi-layered). Its a bit too full on and frightening and this coming from a renowned horror movie fan.

She said "Do not watch Coraline"

Not that I plan on watching it anytime soon (and probably shouldn't) but I do enjoy a good bizarre movie.
Thanks for this!
