My family pushed me away like I was crazy and they wanted to do with me and didn't care if I recovered or not. They saw me as an illness and not a person. They said things that made me feel terrible and I isolated myself and turned to food for comfort. It was before I had the internet and didn't have another way of speaking to other people.

Hello, Chessie, good to see you again.
Did your family kick you out of the house? My parents kicked me out of their house, after I ran out of money and stayed with them for a month or so. They were freaked out by my weird comments, hostility, etc. I became homeless, and that started a long, ugly year of decreasing lifestyles that got progressively worse and ended up with my near death by exposure to winter elements. My family knew something was wrong. They still considered me theirs, but they didn't want me around to possibly do them harm in a fit of psychosis. I'm sorry you had this experience. Is your illness being treated? Did you patch things up with your family? |

Hi Again!! Nice to talk with you again too. No, I've lived with them all the way though it. I stayed in my room most of the time because they made me feel like a crazy outcast. Nothing was ever fixed between any of us. I'm avoiding most of them but I live with my mother and its hard. I know they treated me like an illness and not a person and I can't forget it. They lie and deny a lot. enjoy talking crap about everyone and everything. Especially my grandmother but she passed and its become a little bit easier. Sad but true.
I'm so sorry that you became homeless while having this. I know I wouldn't have made it. Its hard enough having schizophrenia. Add homelessness and it must have been so much worse for you. I'm so glad that you made it through that alive. Hugs to you! I've been seeing a pychriatist since 1998. Everything is the same with the family. Just learning to fake it with them because they don't see themselves as needing help. Its only me that has any problems. |
