Just a leaf but I like looking at nature

I moved to southern Ontario from Ottawa last weekend. The city is about half the size and is cleaner. There is a lot of industry here, unlike Ottawa which is mainly government and hi-tech. So far I like it here. People are friendly and helpful.

On Thursday I felt very lonely, because I have no friends and family here. My recent mobile phone purchase has made the loneliness more tolerable. I am very happy with this purchase.

The sun sets about 20 minutes later here. It is amazing what 500 km west can do. I really hope this helps my mood during the winter months. In Ottawa it sets at 4:20 pm when winter starts. I have always found this depressing.

Your pics are good enough to be in National Geographic SP!

Now I want to start going places and taking pictures. I have a Nikon Coolpix which takes good pictures (not near as good as those but still pretty good) My mom bought it for me maybe 4 years ago for Christmas and it was my very first digital camera.

Thanks bluebird..anything Nikon is good...I have a low end canon I use on occasion and I like it too....

That looks like a walnut or other nut to me.....did you see the inside?

You're right, I never knew walnuts looked like before being opened. It's an Eastern black walnut I guess. Crab apples look different

I wasn’t sure...they can look a lot a like but there appeared to be some that was already chewed up by squirrels sitting right beside it. Those black walnuts are incredibly hard to crack, you pretty much need to use a hammer 🔨

Every tree except my lilac in my backyard is a black walnut. My yard is a minefield. At night if you sit outside you can hear them dropping. Did you know they are toxic to horses?
The wood is gorgeous. We had to cut a couple and wanted to get some things made with it but all the saw mills around refuse to cut it because they sell the shavings for horses.
