Three favorite movies:
The Matrix: I think it had out done Star Wars philosophically. Star Wars has the potential to be something profound, but sadly, I feel it's dumb down for the masses. Don't get me wrong, I still love Star Wars though. Another challenger for philosophical movies is Fight Club, and there was plenty to learn from it. However, it was too dark and I couldn't learn enough uplifting and elevating things from it. Monty Python's Holy Grail: I didn't see this until I was about 20 year old, and I didn't think much of it then. However, the more I see it the more I fall in love with it. There are too many memorable characters in it. The peasants working the field, Prince Herbert, the chaste knight, the black knight, the list goes on! Hackers: This movie has stuck with me because it brings up nostalgia. There are so many great one liners in it. I can quote half the movie by heart. "Her software matches her wetware" lol. "Spandex--its a right, not a privilege!" |

I went and saw the Hitman's Bodyguard yesterday with Ryan Reynolds and Samuel L. Jackson. It was pretty good, a lot of funny scenes. They did drag out a few of the scenes a little bit more than needed for an action movie. But it was all good

I'm trying to find a way to buy Battlestar Galactica and watch it on my computer. If I could buy the complete series for a cheaper price than each individual one that would be nice. RIght now they are going for about $34-25 a season, not including the special mini movies. I don't want to buy the dvd box set, even thogh I could get that for $60 bucks because I want to watch it on my laptop. Hmmph. I could bit torrent but that would take up 60gigs. Amazon sells it per season from what I can tell, and MS movies sells it per season too. I miss the days of it being free to stream on Netflix! Oh the good ol days!

J. J. Abrahms is now directing Star Wars IX. If he fails he will forever be remembered as Jar Jar Abrahms. lol No, but seriously, The Force Awakened was okay. But... a THIRD deathstar??? Solo was over misogynistic to the point where it was a bit slap stick. Meh.

The last film I saw that I really enjoyed was called THE ZERO THEOREM. It's a surreal exploration of Nihilsm in a sci-fi setting, staring Christopher Waltz and written by Terry Gilliam.

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/The_Zero_Theorem So Zero Theorem is the third part of a massively popular trilogy that nobody really knew was a trilogy! Brazil->12 monkeys->Zero Theorem. I've got to see this. It's right down my ally. Thanks! I wonder where I can find it... |

I finally got around to seeing The Dark Tower and enjoyed it. Never read the books though. Interestingly, the bit where the boy and the gunslinger are in the forest and the boy could hear the children screaming as they were forced to attack the tower sounds very, very similar to the Screaming that I hear every waking moment. It was helpful to be able to use that example to describe it to my parents.

So I rented The Zero Theorem and I found it intellectually stimulating, on an existential level, but it didn't feel organic at all. It was faux for me. I felt the movie didn't even take itself seriously, which some people might like. That works once in awhile, like with evil dead, army of darkness, and idiocracy. The most real character I felt was Bob. This 13 year old kid was the wise man of the film.

I might watch it at home. I have a hacked amazon stick, so I can watch movies that are still in theater on it, however, many of them have subtitles and a shaky camera work lol I'm still going to watch The Last Jedi in theaters at least two times.

I still recommend the movie Split. It's going to merge with the Unbreakable's story line in the future! So much more organic than Marvel and DC.

Carmina, that film might be controversial but that's my middle name.
![]() ...but, ultimately, my psychosis was too much of a destructive force. Something IS wrong when you start to turn your professors into affirmative action and the police. Something is wrong when you believe your phone has been hacked by your closest of friends. Something is wrong when you've searched your mind so often and in such distress that you start to lose cognitive capacity. |
