I was wondering what early experiences of schizophrenia or schizoaffective disorder were like. Did it feel like you were going crazy or did you not know? Was there a break between periods of feeling like you were going crazy?

I have either bipolar 1 with psychosis or schizoaffective and I can tell you I had no idea---it lasted for a month with no breaks until someone dragged me to a psychiatrist. However, its not the same for everyone.

I got really mad because no one believed these bad things were about to happen. Then, they are like your psychotic and delusional. But, actually bad things happened just like I thought and I just kept getting forced to talk bout my childhood. Doesn't anyone care about what happened to me during my 20s or why I started hallucinating?.

I began feeling unmotivated and sense of doom.

Then I began thinking few people are out to get me.

Then I falsely began thinking someone is in love with me

Then I got a feeling that movies are my life story, songs are written for me etc etc.

It finally got to self referentiality in every conversation.

I got insight into my illness very late unfortunately. But thankfully I do have it now.

My first signs of schizophrenia was paranoia that just grew and grew until it cemented into a delusion.

My psychosis came on suddenly. I was hearing voices and I thought they were real.

My psychosis started when I was seven. I had dyslexia and other problems that usually happen in cos. I gradually heard voice and had delusions and a lot of the time I had disorganized thinking, speech, and behavior. I'm still trying to gain insight into my psychosis. Both of parents worked durin that time and I was extremely quiet in school so no one noticed. I talked lakes falked to plants and trees believeing that they were a gate way to another dimension. I would not make sense when I talked to my peers and I barely talked to my teachers. I grew really paranoid about everyone around me. It got worse this year. But most of the time psychosis has las fas cas mas a gradual onset. I had no idea it was odd when I was delvoping it.

For me, I was living in an altered reality, that I thought was true. I was highly paranoid and delusional. It took 1 1/2 years before my husband finally made me realize it was all in my head. Thank God for my P Doc and medication management!

My earliest memories include voices. I thought it was normal.
