So as I mentioned before, I ended up having a psychotic episode for a day only about a week ago. My pdoc thinks I may be because I was coming off medication, my psychologist thinks it may be due to trauma. No one is really sure. But I know my age of 18 is around the time people develop psychotic disorders (18-25 I believe). I am in depression right now but I’ve never had a psychotic episode before from all my depressive episodes in the past. And this wasn’t that long in duration luckily. But at what age did your first psychosis episode appear? How long was the episode? Did it happen more frequently after your first episode? I’m worried about having another episode that’s longer than just a day. Thank you.

I was 29 and it lasted an entire year until i finally was forced into a psychward. I would be psychotic indefinitely if it weren't for meds. My father has been in psychosis since 2001. I tried to get him help but he was resistant.

Not sure when my first psychotic episode was. I remember hearing voices as far back as 4-5 years old. I've had quite a bit of trauma as a little kid. I was raped by my mom's exboyfriend up until I was 7 years old when it stopped. My dad and stepmom use to lock us in the bedroom without food or basic needs. So its possible mine could be from trauma too. I wasn't diagnosed with schizophrenia until I was 20 almost 21 or 21 I can't remember.

Drugs caused, or maybe triggered, my psychosis. I was 23 when it happened first. I didn't go on meds for many months. Although I've had some slight wax and wane in symptoms I've yet to have a relapse not associated with drug use. Take from that what you will.

I had some problems with delusions for a long time.. First time I hallucinated was while on zoloft, that's all I was on. Two days after I started it I started seeing/hearing things and then I couldn't sleep for over 3 days, at all, then eventually I got on depakote and that helped. I mainly dealt with intense delusions/paranoia from like age 18. I just had to get off my invega shot recently because of tardive dyskinesia symptoms. It's been like 17 days off it and I've had no symptoms come back so I'm kinda questioning if I ever really needed it at all. Now I'm on paxil, wellbutrin. trileptal, clonidine and klonopin prn. Maybe that's all I ever really needed? idk.

I didn't start hearing voices until I was about 17, and even then, they started off as whispers simply calling my name or something, they slowly got worse as I got older.

When I was really young. About 3-4 I started hearing voices, disorganized thought, and paranoia. When I was 6 I entered full blown psychosis, than 7 I was diagnosed. After that I experienced no remission until I now that I’m a young teen. Everyone calls it that since I can’t ever not be in psychosis. But speaking of which it’s varies be age. I hope that you do well and not experience full-blown schizophrenia, psychosis, or related.
