It's been 7 months ever since my problems all started. Since then my symptoms have included delusions, hallucinations, paranoia, suicidal depression and mood-swings. The thing is, my mood-swing symptoms are shorter than the psychosis in it's active and residual phases and for the depression, there are environmental triggers. I've diagnosed myself as having some form of Schizophrenia and technically I 'm right, but I have to talk to my doc. Any opinions or comments would be appreciated

I wouldn't place too much emphasis on a label. It is what it is. I would try to examine it.

Hey Phil, Let me see here, you feel trapped because
you have an invisable illness that doesn't
quite leave you alone and each day nothing changes. The medication your on seems to bring on more
problems than they solve.
Well I understand that you might not like
this "psychotic" labeling this is quite true and I would
say the more "evidence" that happens to reveal itself the more confusion and then the frustration, it sometimes can
snowball into an episode.
The more of the illness you decide to fight
the more understanding and to prepare/triggers and losen
its grip (don't let the negative control) the more you'll
find its not so in your face all the time. Your still
you, all of your strengths and weaknesses, likes and
dislikes, quorkyness, expressions/emotions. You are a
part of the human race, like it or not.
Take care

DB

Is it true that you're 13? Its unusual for psychotic sx to appear at this age. What has your pdoc told you?

Forget schizophrenia. I am depressed. No real psychosis. Thought it was but it was just my thoughts.

i've never been psychotic, but i've had a paradoxical reaction to antipsychotics that were prescribed for my ptsd. i was psychotic from antipsychotics. yeah, weird, i know, but it's not impossible. just wanted to let you know that your medication can cause a problem, like psychosis. that's why i would be very careful in where you blame symptoms on. i had thought that my symptoms were all me, and i spent over a year like this. it wasn't until i was taken off of antipsychotics by another pdoc when i realized that it was all due to the meds i was on. just be careful. i don't wish anybody going through the same thing i went through.
