I'm if laying down to rest sometimes I see scenery, objects, or people while my eyes are closed. Has anyone else experience anything like this?

Yes. I have had this for a very long time, maybe for all my life. Furthermore, my voices see these images, too, & will ask, "what's that?" I don't know where they come from. Maybe the Dreammaker (whover creates our dreams)? Usually my images are on the gray side, & sometimes with a tinge of color.

Hi, do you know what causes this?

There are hypnogogic and hypnopompic hallucinations, which happen as you start to fall asleep or wake up.

I get them quite often and it's stressful. I'm worried that it's psychosis or something.

Usually with psychosis you don’t necessarily realize they aren’t real....that’s the danger, not the image.

Maybe if I try to reduce stress and anxiety it'll help.

I don't feel stressed about it at all. And I don't think of them in terms of being real or not real, like with a dream. Sometimes the images are like traveling through some sort of unfamiliar land, or even through the body. So I wonder sometimes if it's like a prophetic dream, showing me something that the brain knows about.

Ive had these since I was very small younger than school age 2-4. My images were usually monster like, faces &flashing colors red black green yellow, they always scared me & caused great distress. My eyes didnt have to be closed , I saw these images anytime I was in total darkness. Needless to say I was more than a little bit scared of the dark.

Hi, @HorribleMe, In my past, I had what you described, when I had more serious mental problems. I also experienced it with my eyes open, but brighter with my eyes closed, oranges & reds & yellows. The psychiatrist put me on a medication that made those kinds of images (demonistic-like) disappear & they never returned, thank goodness. But I still have these neutral type of images, which are completely harmless. By the way, welcome to PC!

I don't see anything fully awake. I get the closed eye visions and sounds when falling asleep. I mentioned the sounds falling asleep during a mental health assessment before. They didn't seem concerned. I've notice it happens more if I'm feeling anxious or stressed. I'm glad yours eased up.

Mine don't have sounds. And I am sometimes fully awake, but trying to go to sleep. I'm very relaxed, though, so maybe the brain is ahead of itself, trying to dream? Some of the images have kept me awake longer because they were so interesting.
