Anyone know if you can tell the difference between negative symptoms of Schizoaffective and regular symptoms of depression? They seem kind of similar to me. I'm not sure which I am having. Or maybe I am having both! I will talk to Pdoc about it. T didn't really give me any good thoughts one way or the other about it. It might not matter, if the treatment is the same. There's not a lot of treatment that they can do for negative symptoms of Schizoaffective Disorder, but they can treat with anti-depressants, which I am already on.

Now I’ve added some supplements but now ten years later the meds aren’t changing. Sometimes the tweaking fails but it’s not your fault. I’ve been off meds and felt horrible when I had to go back on, like I let down my treatment team and myself . I have so little psychosis that if anyone could go off it would be me and yet I can’t. Part of me is kinda anti med like I don’t even like taking cold medicine but the rest realizes I’m better off with these meds and in fact lucky to have them.

For you if you had the olanzapine you might have been ok but changing two meds at once was probably a mistake by the pdoc.

Tonight for my birthday I am going out with my parents to eat at Olive Garden. Then we will come home and have a cake that my Mom made. At work today we are having a luncheon. Baked potatoes and chili. And then chocolate cake and milk at 2 o'clock break. I am going to be so full!

The treatment isn’t the same really. As far as I can tell it’s a matter of what works. Antidepressants for depression and things like sarcosine for negative symptoms. If you don’t already know sarcosine is a supplement that is typically in powder form and can be added to coffee etc because it’s sweet. It’s scientifically proven to help neg symptoms but one of those things that can’t be patented so the drug companies don’t make it. It works both right away and even better after prolonged use….helps with motivation etc. think of it like caffeine. Anyway ask pdoc even before adding supplements especially where you’re at right now.
