ive been wondering.
i know that schiz has some genetic causes and stuff,
can schiz be aggravated by stress caused by say... a physically aggressive parental figure?
say someone who i know was schiz, and in the past their father had been violent towards them and others, and is still violent, but not to them anymore. could that have aggravated stuff?
im actually more worried about the effect of the angry parent at the moment.
oooh wells. sorry

Amongst the professionals there are any number of theories about what causes schizophrenia. My instinct is that it is due originally to trauma, of whatever kind, that is experienced by the person (usually a child) as overwhelming, and that does not get taken care of at the time so that it propagates into adulthood. Genetics figures into it in making a person more or less vulnerable to certain kinds of stress. It must be the details of the stress and personality, that produce adult symptoms of schizophrenia versus generalized anxiety versus manic/depression... Anyway, those are my thoughts.

I used to take pictures of lamps and such that almost appeared to be parts of the body that were higher up than in your picture. Wonder if I still have those pictures anywhere.

And yes, I was fooled at first by your picture...

Here is my contribution:

Where are the picture police?

Selfy changed her picture, so what I was responding to no longer shows.

i dont know what the causes are im not exactly a health professional, but what i can tell you in my experience is; when something becomes to much to handle like an angry parent and youre forced to suppress your feelings towards that parent and pretend as if every thing is ok with no healthy outlet of the anger or fear they are making you feel etc etc etc it does get worse and symptoms do increase and it can cause relapse

i dont know if that helped any but there you are

It depends on your viewpoint. I tend to view Schizophrenia as a neurological disorder. I do not think it can be induced like Anxiety or Depression. Most studies indicate that environment does not have a significant effect on the chance you might develop Schizophrenia.

There is some evidence that people predisposed to Schizophrenia may have an onset earlier if they live in urban environments, simply because their are more stimuli to interact with everyday.

The Psychotic spectrum is pretty wide. PTSD for instance can have psychotic symptoms.

My son is early in the onset of his schizophrenia which we don't know if he had symptoms and his marijuana use made it worse or the marijuana use brought out the schizophrenia symptoms.

I can tell you that when my son's father (we are divorced) confronted him about his illness -- it sent him into a major relapse!!! I believe major stress does worsen symptoms.
