Reddragon,

Yes this place may promote medications where necessary but it's also important if you know of a way to quiet the voices to share it with all of us because it might help ease somebody's suffering. There's no rule that says you can't share or you shouldn't share. I hope you do let us know what it is that is helping so much.

Love and Hugs,
Tara

This place consists of its members, and some of them take medications and others do not. I don't think people here "promote" medications. I certainly do not, as they did me no good.

sorry, in the past on the blogs and live chat, people always say using med. my personal experience has proven that they caused more problems so you are given more med to cover up the other problems and need to talk more med to cover up those problems. that is my problem with the use of med.
i have had my problem 34 years, going on 35 now but every time i talk about my problem , no one wants to listen and walk away, even here.
no one i talked to that say they have this issue don't want to hear about ways to deal with the issue. so whom realy cares?

I find it hard to deal with my issues too, but what is the alternative? Keep trying, is all I can see. Take comfort where you can find it.

I too am frustrated reddragon. I tried to go off meds recently and felt very good for a couple of months then had to go back on. My goal is to get well enough to get off them. I'm on Geodon now so I'm losing some weight which is good. I wish there was some way to cope without meds. I'm still trying to figure that one out.

I think it is great you are silencing the voices without meds. I believe that people can find real, life-changing solutions without meds. (But, medication is such a personal decision that I generally do not impose my opinion on others unless asked.)

Just wanted to add my support.

i am sorry , i stated the sight promote meds, , you are right, meds help some and others. like everything else. what is good for some is not good for others.. i found out, and this may sound strange, burn a vanilla candle, true vanilla, not french or plug in type. sleep with it burning. (of course it is placed in a safe spot .) this also helps in meditation.
and while being relaxed i do talk to the voices, ans answere them but i get them relaxed also. except one but i in away keep it quiet. always have.

This is not at all strange -- it is very wise.
I did a few quick searches on 'aromatherapy' and 'vanilla' and found that natural vanilla has been proven to reduce anxiety. Sloan-Kettering (big cancer hospital in NYC), did a study that showed having vanilla for patients to smell while getting an MRI significantly reduced their anxiety.

(And, I will add that when working with things like this, it is important to use the real thing, and not just a fake-vanilla scent. Which, or course, you already know. )

Finally, meditation is a great tool to quiet the mind and find some peace. It sounds like your instincts to self-heal are right on.
