Can hardly concentrate on (or "hear") what is going on around me... in reality.
It's like... they are not in my head... they are right next to me... talking (almost screaming) right in my ear!!!
They are... I guess you'd call it resounding... like I hear every word (or every few words) they say multiple times.
Does that make any sense? Does anyone else experience this?
Any tips on how I can quiet them?

Sometimes I hear screaming and what's funny is that a few seconds later someone actually screams (usually my dad). Like yesterday I heard a scream and our house is so big that it would be impossible to hear him because we were at opposite ends, even my mom who was closer couldn't hear it. Then I walked over to him and he did scream. Other times no one really did scream though and it was just a hallucination. When I hear voices, most of the time they are pretty soft with the exception of a few times. Today I heard something like a robot talking and no one else heard it and a lot of random sounds. My problem isn't the voices however, I only hear them a few times a day at most. Its the visual hallucinations. I have seen a white tiger on the side of the road, a floating stop sign in the middle of the road, people running across the road, shadow people, animals and other weird things. Today I saw a bird fly and it vanished into thin air. In the garage, I saw something that didn't have wings, but was too big to be a bug, it was like an alien of some kind. Then the lights went crazy, streaking all over the place. What should you do about your voices? You should go see a pdoc (a psychiatrist) for medicine that will help reduce the hallucinations. For some odd reason I'm having a bad reaction to my Moban and it is INCREASING my hallucinations! I'm sorry that you are having a problem with your concentration due to hallucinations. If meds don't work, listen to music. I also get thought insertion and the music sometimes helps drown them out. Have you been diagnosed with schizophrenia/schizoaffective disorder? By the way, I'm schizoaffective bipolar type. I am having a "mixed" episode right now.
Thanks for this!

I have not been diagnosed with ANYTHING yet. I don't currently have a pdoc.
I just recently (like 2 days ago) made an appointment with my local mental health
clinic. That appointment is scheduled for the 18th of the month.

yes i do , all the time. 24/7, you can help yourself by listen and understand what is being said.and NOT let them make your actions.
i work and hear them all the time, ALL THE TIME. silence them by telling the you wont argue or fight.
Thanks for this!

Sometimes if I put my ipod on and turn up the volume I can drown out the voices. I understand what you are saying. Hang in there and know you aren't alone

to try to block out the voices make it worse in the long run. been there done that. listen to them, hear what they say.the key word is listen. YOU are in controll. the voices can help you if you listen andmake the right choices.one guidw line, if the voice(s) say thing to harm yourself then dont listen to that voice (s),. make YOU as a person whom wont hurt ANYONE because of the voice (s). picture yourself as a peace keeper to say. i hope this helps.

Has anything changed in your life lately? Stress can cause the voices to be really loud.

mine in the past have tried to tell me to hurt myself and others but i overcome that a long time ago. of course it tries to reacquire itself but dont, for most part. you can stop it from owning you. you are not a slave to it.
Thanks for this!

i have a fear of being laughed at.....( even thou i act the joker!!!!)...... so when i first went to the doctor about the voices , i chickened out and old her all was fine...
when they got so loud and scary, i had to tell her.... she mad me an apointment with a pdoc... and just being able to talk to someone about it and not feel as if people were laughing at me was great ......
im not saying it was easy, but if i can do it.... anyone can...

(the voices are still here, and very loud, but i know i can talk to my doctor about it)

manda, the voices seem unbearable i know more than i will tell. one step i took by my self. when are the voices worse and what voice is there at a time.. example, walking down the street, the other voices are there but one tells me what to do. alone, all the voices i heare loud.at work, all voices talk and yell at times,i have learned to deal with it for the most part. you can als, it just takes time,, sorry.just remember, does the words help you or any one else or hurt you and others. if hurt is the end result then dont listen. trust me on this.
Thanks for this!

Manda,
You said you had an appointment on the 18th. How did that go? I hope you are doing better. When my son has these voices, he likes to be in a room with someone (me or his stepdad) so he has some "reality check". He is more bothered by visions, and gets voices about 1/2 the time with the visions.
