Although you are conscious of who you are, you believe that you are intermittently "channelling" someone else and act and speak as they would in a given situation?

Yeah, well this was during an extended manic state, and I was wondering if others may have experienced it. My primary psychotic feature was delusions of reference, of course the whole deal with satellites and the government (I was a secret agent), thought insertion, grandiose delusions, etc. I just never could categorize the channelling thing.

From this page Delusion | Encyclopedia of Psychology

Delusions of Control:
Quote:
Delusions of control – Belief that one’s thoughts or actions are being controlled by outside, alien forces. Common delusions of control include thought broadcasting (“My private thoughts are being transmitted to others”), thought insertion (“Someone is planting thoughts in my head”), and thought withdrawal (“The CIA is robbing me of my thoughts”).
And that page links to this page Delusion of Control | Encyclopedia of Psychology which says:
Quote:
Delusion of Control: The fixed belief that one’s behavior is entirely directed by another person, group of people, or external force.
I have some very old psychiatry books around here, if I come across some other terms that seem applicable I'll post an update.

Yes, I did the thought broadcasting as well. I had one professional suggest that the complexity of my visual hallucinations at the time suggested there may have been something organic going on. I'd love to get an MRI and CT scan to see if anything shows up.
