I mean, all illnesses are isolating, but usually you can find some sort of online support. There's barely anything for StPD. The only forum I found is updated very rarely and even on here there is an extreme lack of people participating in the StPD section.
I feel like I could connect to someone if they were like me. I can't connect to only friend, my siblings, or even my parents. I've never connected to anyone real before because of this illness and I desperately want to. I don't know, I'm just rambling. Last edited by Maxima; Jun 22, 2013 at 11:35 AM.. |

I'm sorry I can't help with understanding the feelings as I don't have StPD but just wanted to post to say that I have read your post and you aren't alone here.
Thinking of you. |

I have had PDNOS, not StPD, but I think all the PD’s may be isolating. Even HPD and NPD, where people are conscious of wanting attention, but in a self-absorbed way, not connecting.
I’m sorry you’re having/feeling this difficulty. It doesn’t sound like rambling to me, more like a statement of how things are for you at the moment, which even if it’s expressed in (impersonal) internet space, is a start IMHO. Best wishes. |

I have BPD but this title spoke out to me. Like someone else, I think all PD's tend to be isolating. I know for me I have a hard time getting attached to anyone and tell myself often I'd enjoy having more friends but when it comes down to it? I don't try. It's really on me.
As for not having many forums/info for you out there that must be tough. I know I use info available as a coping mechanism to know I am not alone and I cannot imagine what it is like not to have that. Just keep trying. *hugs* |

Hi Maxima
I have SPD. I have all the symptoms on the criteria list. I'm in my 50's now, so I have a whole boat load of weird behaviour to draw from. Would love to share. SPD is suppose to be less common, I just think it's undiagnosed. I think we'll find lots of people here who share our symptoms. So that's helpful. I guess what I miss is comparing medications. My Doc has prescribed Trazodone, Effexor, Saphris. I'm new to forums, sorry if this isn't the right way to get a message to you. Only share what you are comfortable with. Hopefully we can share and help others. Pond |

Hi, I am also in my 50's, and feel quite frustrated not fitting in anywhere except to some extent at my mental health consumer run organization. Even there I am rather unique (oops, oxymoron!) The worst feeling is not knowing how to be in God's plan for my life, when I always trip over my mental flaws and physical weaknesses and seem to make no positive difference anywhere, or just don't want to do anything. Sorry to sound so down. I wish you all the best. There is more awareness about more mind/nervous system conditions like autism and learning disorders, maybe they will bring up PDs, seriously learn about them and create acceptance and dignity for us.
