Hi everyone,
I don't remember if I've already posted about this or not, I just want to talk about it for a second. I found out today that I am failing two classes (that I know of), and getting a C in art. In art!! It's all because I don't do my homework like I should. Lazy, unmotivated girl I am. I think these are my current grades: Art: C Biology: B or C Health: D World History: B, I think Geometry: B or C, not sure English: E So, I'm wondering. Does anyone else have this problem? I feel like an epic fail right now - my teachers are getting annoyed with me, I can tell. But who could blame them? It's my fault this is happening, so I shouldn't even be complaining about it here.

I haven't done my homework in a week, but I am lucky because I am taking an open enrollment online class so as long as I complete all the work for the class within the 10 week deadline, I'll be fine. I'm waiting on the "good motivated student Kayla" to come out. She can do the work in 3 weeks flat...where'd she go???? haha. I'm also taking one class at a time, that helps. But I suppose that doesn't really help you does it? If it's possible, why don't you set 3 VERY EASY goals for yourself...and then reward yourself when you are done. Or make a list off all the things you have to do, then mark off all the things that can wait, then do the things that take the least amout of time...by the time you do that...you will have a shorter list and you might be more motivated to do the big stuff. Good Luck

I think you're brave for admitting you have a problem. What are your grades normally like - meaning is this just a motivation problem or do you need extra tutoring. I started my girls on good studying habits - they come home and eat something then they go straight to their homework. The school also starts them off early with agendas or planners where they have to list all their homework assignments there and the parent has to initial it everyday school day.
I want you to think of it this way IndieSoul - a good education is like a freedom ticket to have a better life. Education experts now know that students who exercise regularly do better in school and are motivated better - so perhaps you need to start doing that. Figure out what's the best way to solve this and best of luck!! ![]()

I hate it when my depression gets in the way of me being able to do my work. It sounds like you have come up with a good plan for getting your homework done. Good luck!!!

I'm in the same situation right now. i am failing everyone of my classes and i feel i am lazy, worthless, and a obstacle in everyone's way. I think i have depression and i cry about wanting to do something about it but don't want people to think different of me.

Week 2...still no homework....I am starting to get a little motivation but I am using my baby's teething as an excuse. He has been incredibly clingy and exhausting, so I have no energy to think about school. We all need to have a study support group haha. Maybe then we could motivate each other to quit being lazy bums! Hang in there guys!

Hi Indie,
What are your plans for the future? Do you want to go to college? ![]() I currently teach college, and it is frustrating when I have a student who is just not doing the work. It takes emotional energy, or motivation, to even decide to start doing your homework. Can you create some kind of reward for yourself for completing homework assignments in English and Health. Is your English class associated with writing or literature this year? Feel free to PM me if you would like. EJ ![]() Quote:

So I guess what I'm saying is, don't feel so bad for being lazy or unmotivated when it comes to school. There's more to life than school and work. Or you could totally ignore this post because this is horrible advise, lol! If you have a specific career goal or you want to have a larger variety of oppurtunities in life, think about that when it comes to getting school work done. Don't be like me and wind up regretting not working very hard in the past, because honestly I didn't have any other choice but to go to community college (other not go), because I couldn't get into any other college. |

Well I don't know what I can offer that the others didn't, I just wanted to say that I am in the same boat with you. My depression has been terrible since my fiance left and last semester I failed a Biology course. This semester I'm only taking one class (physics) because I don't want to fail another one but my depression is getting deeper and my study habits are getting worse. I have a 5 chapter test this week and I still haven't done the last 2 chapters of HW (about 3-4 weeks worth). Really trying to get something done today. My plan is to get down to a coffee shop to do mine, there's one next door to where I live that's quiet and cozy and distraction free. Maybe if I actually leave the house with HW as my main purpose I will get something done...

Humans are creatues of habits. If you have a habit of not doing homework its really hard to break it but if you get into a habit it becomes a lot easier.
I had a very hard time doing dishes and it was a struggle. Once I started doing it after dinner it became very easy to do. Something I don't have to force myself to do, its just part of my routine. |

Good news
![]() Art: B Biology: D Health: D World History: B+ Geometry: B- English: C- Not great, but much better. Tizzylizzy, could you perhaps find a tutor? Or maybe your instructor could help you with this problem. I don't know if you're in school or college, but either one should have someone that could offer some help. Good luck ![]()

I can definitely relate to how you feel about school. I felt like this most last year, and failed almost everything simply because I didn't care. I wish I could give you a good piece of advice in this reply, but unfortunately I'm still trying to pull myself through it myself. One thing I do try though is everyday when I wake up I think of a reason why school is important for me now and for my future. When I don't want to get up or do my homework I try to remind myself that who I am ten years from now rests on who I am and how hard I work today.
It's not always easy, but remember the emotions of how great it is when you get A's and B's. A great thing to strive for is those moments of happiness, and I often use that as my motivation too. Best of luck with school (: I'm sorry I can't be of much support, but I definitely know what you're going through. And to be honest, I didn't think your grades were really all too bad! ![]()

I'm sorry to bring this thread back up, but I got my final grades today (well, pretty much final since the marking period ends tomorrow) this is what it was a couple weeks ago:
Art: C Biology: C Health: D World History: B Geometry: B English: E This is what it is now: Art: A- Biology: C Health: D World History: B Geometry: B+ English: C How in the world am I going to explain the C's and the D?????? My parents flip when I get a C, let alone a D. I know it's my fault, I know I did this to myself with my laziness. But ![]() ![]()
