Has anyone been to an alternative school before? I need someone to share their POSITIVE STORY. Heres my story. I've been going to my school for two years now. Last year I had what could no better be called than a mental breakdown. I was terribly depressed and somewhat anxious. I was diagnosed with major depression and Genralized Anxiety Disorder and off i was to the "treatment center" for two months. Well I just started school again and bam my anxiety is really high again of course over nothing and I think everyone is worried it's going to happen again so they want to send me to the alternative school. Problem is I'm scared to leave my school and I'm really scared to go. The school consists of like 5-8 kids all with emotional problems that cant function at their home school in our district. IM REALLY SCARED HELP

I'm not a student, but I've taught at a school like you mentioned. We had students with varying degrees of mental issues who for one reason or another just were not ready for regular public school. I've found that the students want to help each other and the staff I worked with was very supportive. Our motto was "progress, not perfection" and that's how we taught. I wasn't teaching English or social studies, but helping the students realize how to deal with their mental health issues. Now I teach at an on-line school, which could be another alternative you could look into.

Work hard!!!! I LOVE alternative schooling because it allows people (like us!) who can't do the 2000 person HS to be able to have a chance.

I worked my *** of in alternative school and graduated a year and a half early! Take this as an opportunity. The teachers are so supportive - let them help you! They'll be your friend

I went to alternative schools from 8th grade until I graduated. Did independent study...the 10 person school....the 60 person school....the 200 person school. Anything you want to know, I'm an open book
