This is just a rant. This week is going to be absolutely insane. I'm seriously convinced that professors get together, figure out the weeks where a lot of outside stuff is going on and then all assign stuff the week before.
Today I have an exam which has over 300 pages of notes. Wednesday I have a quiz and a keying exercise (keying out insects in class) plus our regular lab plus rehearsal for this play we're doing for the insect festival. Then Thursday is the Arkansas Entomological Society meeting which I did a poster for. Then Friday is the insect festival where I am the swallowtail butterfly in the play for the kids and we do 4 performances that day. Plus sometime this week I have to go into the field. Oh and we're having practice for this game they do at the Entomological Society of America. Plus I have to dissect a bunch of insects to try and be ready to do PCR next week in addition to my weekly meeting with my committee. Just sucks because certain classes are only offered in one semester every other year so this semester I'm taking 12 credit hours while doing my research. And next semester I have nothing and have to find classes to fill my time with. I wish I could stretch it out. Moral of my story is.....if my head stays attached this week someone better give me a damn medal. |

Saluki - We profs DO get together and plan to make your lives miserable! Just kidding!
You get a medal for even attempting to accomplish so much in one week! |

I have to admit that, as a former college professor, I do joke with my high-school senior when he tells me about ALL the work and tests he has in a short period of time: "Yeah, you know we do plan it that way....."
Actually, I had a professor who told us if we had more than 2 tests on the day that she was planning a test, then just let her know. What a jewel! Never heard anyone else who ever did that, though, even me.... ![]() Hang in there! Alas, it sometimes just happens that way! We are proud of you (even though we've never met), for what you're trying to accomplish! Let us know how you're doing next week, if you get a chance. I'll be hunting up a medal! ![]() |

I have met a few professors who do the same thing. And my one prof was about to move our presentations back but this kid blurted out "no, we can do it monday". I presented today and he said I did excellent and also took that test today and did pretty well.
The quiz shouldn't be difficult or the keying exercise. My lab manager said he would go out in the field so I didn't have to so I could finish up this presentation for the AES meeting which was awesome. So as soon as we all got done with the midterm today we all went out to lunch and had a few beers lol. So my weekly meeting with my advisor was AWESOME haha |

Congratulations! I used to joke with my students about their "crying in their ROOT beer"! I heartedly approve of your hoisting a few of those mugs in celebration! lol Anyone know how to go on Goggle or something and find a picture of a medal to post for our smart student?

So I got an 86 on the exam which is pretty good considering there were over 350 pages of notes. The quiz I think I'm going to do well on. Finished my poster early. Everything is going well and then I realized something.........The Reds are in the playoffs for the first time in 15 years and I can't watch the game tomorrow

Oh, my little swallowtail, have some fun in there! How can a professor even think of and plan "insect festivals", much less insect plays?
