Hey, Kiki. Have you told your doc that your insurance won't cover the new medicine? Maybe there's an alternative.
Is there someone who will be willing to work with you to help keep you on track? Maybe you can talk to a counselor or somebody who can help to tutor you, keep you on your schedule, and so on Also, how about posting in the ADHD/ADD forum here on PC? Maybe someone there can give you some suggestions. We do want to help you to stay in school! ![]() |

kikki, I struggle with ADD. I am on meds right now that really help. I hope your doctor can get your case settled soon. I know it may sound small compared to meds but a good calendar with detailed todo lists and a structured schedule is what got me through college. Daily structure is so very important--or at least it is for me. Hang in there! You can do it!

My neuro ended up writing my insurance a letter asking them to cover the name brand of a script. Things like adhd and anxiety could lead to hospitalizations if you don't have something to keep you from totally flipping out. My friend has actually been hospitalized because she literally drove herself into a mania from school and other pressures. So my doc's thing was "cover the meds now, or cover an ER bill when she flips out and goes postal". I got the name brand and they covered over 500 of the bill!
I don't know how common this is....but it may be worth a shot. I never thought in a million years that they would actually do it....but they did. Hope you can get something figured out! You deserve your education! |

Can you back off and take fewer credits for a semester or two, get some work experience and maybe not stress so much about timing for your degree. My second degree took me seven years to get and I started with most of my courses/credits already. Find something that isn't quite as boring at the moment and do more of that and use that to help you with the boring parts (as a reward; if you do the hard parts for X minutes, you can do the fun parts for Y).

The reward method is good! I recommend it, too!

I have add and medicine helps some but not much...i continuously find my mind wandering and also struggle with grades. counseling and going to someone for professional advice helps, because they help you find a way to get things done on time and do well in classes despite the difficulty of having add or adhd.
