I just started my freshmen year in college this week on monday. So far my classes are great and i love my teachers!
It has been major stressful with books not coming in on time though, i have 7 assignments due in math by wednesday night. and about 5 more will be due by sunday night of next week as well. My book isnt scheduled to come in until tuesday at the earliest, but possibly wedneday. I ordered them on the 20th so its not like i waited until the last minute. I also am taking my first online clas and was wondering if anyone has any tips for helping me to stick with it. Or any ideas to make it easier for myself? thanks |

I took a lot of online classes in college. The best thing you can do is check on it every school day and keep up with it as much as you can; otherwise you end up doing a lot more chaotic work last minute than would be desirable. Also, maybe you can meet someone else in the class and you guys can help each other stay motivated...just a thought

The library probably has the books (too late now; did you get them in time, get the math done?). The online class key is to do a lot of posting/talking, the "writing" will get stuff organized in your head and moving along in order. I always like to pretend it's kind of like checking my email? I go in the middle of the night and odd times to see who has posted what, and "work"/research on the Web at odd times and keep whatever is happening in the back of my mind at all times. Think of upcoming project thesis topics too and write opening paragraphs laying out what you're going to do and just add a bit to them as you go along also. I wasn't thrilled with the online reading, often printed that out or just scanned it and researched it in more detail on the web (so I'd make sure I covered the basic stuff it did). Constantly ask yourself the key questions and answer them, tie things together.

Like Equive mentions, to check in with an online class every day is a great idea to be sure of any new things that can be posted and stay on top of it. Perhaps even setting a time every day if possible, just as if you were going to scheduled class to get into a routine can help. Also, it is easy and simpler just to print things off but it was recommended to me to take notes as you would for a regular class. It helps to learn them than just reading them online and for studying.
I hope you got your books and if not as Perna says, they may be on file in the library. Good luck!! ![]()
