I'm in my second year of college and I have zero motivation to work. I leave every assignment to the last minute, and then I get angry at myself for doing such bad work. I'm so tired in the evenings that I can't study and I've done less than average on my tests. I only barely scraped my way into 2nd year because all my results were bare passes and I even had to redo an exam.
I don't even know what I want to do when I'm older but everyone else I know does. And none of this is from excessive partying or drinking because since September I've only gone out once.
I don't know what the hell to do, but dropping out is not an option.
Any advice?

That sounds like me too. I remember when I did my health and social care course. I did my assignments to last minute. I got all passes and some merits and discintions. Maybe you're not motivated because the coursework is too hard? I thought my assignments were too much and that made me want to forget about them. I had about 2-3 assignments to do. So I was under pressure. Maybe try to ask yourself? What will this course lead me to if I passed it? A qualification to a higher course or to get a job? Maybe you could ask your tutor for help if you don't understand because when you don't understand something you try to avoid it. That's what happened to me. I'm sorry if I'm bad at advice but I hope everyone goes well.
Thanks for this!

I go through these periods too. I try to make a deal with myself that to sit down for 5-10 minute increments during these times and then take a break for the same period or so. I will even set a timer so there is a true promise to break then come back to it for only 10 more minutes. It is surprising how much can get accomplished in such a little period and will retain, then start to feel better about it and work actually gets done. If feel like building up to larger increments, 15 -20 min and then break, that's great but never more than 25 as start to fall back into losing motivation and retention becomes a problem over 30 min. I don't know if this method might help but I can definitely understand the frustration.

As Happycheeks mentioned, sometimes too, I can put things off not just because I don't understand it/its difficult and a tutor can help with this, but also because I am bored. I have to try to change it up, change my study patterns (reading aloud, walking and reading, or writing/typing things out), getting together with a study partner or a group, or using technology/computers to help engage me by finding additional material to make it interesting and tie it all together.

Hang in there and good luck finding what will work for you!!

Well yesterday evening I got off my *** and decided to join my college rugby team. Even though it mightn't do anything for my studies I already made some new friends and felt better after exercise. Probably won't do much for my physical health either lol, I only weigh 150 lbs lol.
Maybe he should try sports.
