I knew I did bad, but I didn't think I did that bad... I got 26%. I still have more tests before my final grade but I feel like I let myself down and now I look like an idiot in front of my class. It's just another addition to the "sick of college" list.

As I read your account, I thought of a friend of mine's son. He was almost a straight A student in high school, and now he is failing his maths course in college. His first experience with failure!
I'm sorry you're having a tough time. I doubt that everybody else in your class will think you're dumb, though. Maths can be very hard. What year are you in college? You say you're not very happy about the whole thing. Do you want to be doing something else? What's happening? Please see if you can get some help with maths. Talk to your professor, ask someone in class who is doing well for some help, seek out a tutor.....My friend's son hasn't done any of that and I think he might do better if he does. Please check back in...... ![]() |

Hey deniswazere
I know how you feel. I'm in college now and I am a Mathematics major. Before I was diagnosed, I took on too many courses at once and failed Calculus 2. Even after I failed, I didn't realize I was "sick" until I re-took the course again in the Spring and got a 3% on my exam. I don't know what took me so long to realize.. but after coming out of the psychiatric emergency room, I withdrew from school for a semester and went into intensive outpatient treatment. When I got a bit better, I took Calculus 2 for a third time and finally got an A. I didn't want to give up because I really like Mathematics and I really wanted to prove to myself that I could get through this difficult time. I'm glad I did, and now I'm back in university as a full-time student. deniswazere, I really hope you will be able to find what works for you. And if you ever need any help with mathematics studies, let me know. I've found a lot of study sites and ways that can really help even if it's last minute stuff. |

I know how you feel, I've recently returned to college and I feel like I'm having a harder time retaining information, and I've always had a problem with procrastination.
I just took a test in which I didn't do too well because I put off studying and just didn't get the time to cram, so I flunked it. Now finals are coming up and I've got more work on my plate than I can handle and I'm still putting it off. ![]() |
