the difference here: this to you from a textbook....
"modern psychoanalytic theory has moved away from Freud's original conception of psychic energy. In current thinking, the assumption is that it is the mind's capacity for processing information, rather than it's energy." Can someone please explain to me the difference? I don't see one lol. If you don't have the capacity to process a peice of information, how will that not take energy to try to do so? Yes this is may seem very irrelevent, but dang it Freud was right. |

I am sorry but i think Freud was talking not only about the mind.
It is true that today there are theories that move away from Freud`s original conception. The cognitive theory relies on the mind's capacity for processing information... The conflict between the forbidden and the desired....and the actions come from the subconscious need to release this tension. It has to do with feelings...with the physical. NONE conscious. Processing information is a conscious action. |

Could you put the sentence that came directly before and directly after the quote you posted? I think I might be able to tell you the difference, but I need a bit more context to be sure.
