Hi all!
I am a sophomore chemical engineering student. Of late, I have started to realize that I am just not clear with what my true calling is. I am (or rather used to be) interested in web designing, however, nowadays I seem to get bored at the mere mention of web designing, a thing that never failed to excite me (earlier!). Also, I feel like doing something in the field of chemicals, try my hand in something or the other but get bored/stressed out/disinterested in the middle and end up leaving the task at hand. Please suggest how to deal with this!! Thanks |

Hi, lifelesssoul, welcome to PsychCentral (PC).
"Web designing" and "chemicals" are too vague to get behind and stay behind. "Doing something in the field of chemicals" means you should be studying the general field but also be keeping your eye out for what excites you and noting it. Do you know this old joke? http://mattmclean.blogspot.com/2008/...somewhere.html I don't think you have gotten far enough to be "stuck". Maybe figure out a real-world project (do web design for a chemistry group on campus, for money :-) and see if you can get practical with your interests, see the real "use" of your studies?

Really? I am planning on doing Chemical Engineering too. Is it hard? Are you interested in research? I have heard that it can be very exciting and rewarding.
People can sometimes get bored even doing what they love the most. Writers face writers block. Sportspeople sometimes feel so tired they think of quitting their sport. You need variety. Do something physical like sport. It will make you healthier and awaken the sports spirit within you. Read just for fun. Do something fun you've never done before. It will help break the monotony. |
