Currently my major is Computer Information systems. When I was in middle and early high school I would spend hours creating my own websites. I also remember writing A LOT, I still have the books I wrote in. Through the years I got caught up in the social end of the spectrum (pretty much doing the wrong things) and lost the spark in everything else. I am really mad at myself for this. I chose the computer end because I used to be really into it although everything has changed since then as far as programming goes. Also, my dad is a techie and my brother programs toys. So I figured I was built for this line of work and not to mention you can get paid pretty well.

The problem is, I kind of find myself uninterested in it now and as usual completely confused. The only other majors I am interested in is English and Environmental science. Not sure what I can do with an English degree....ack!! I want a new brain that knows what it wants and stops changing its mind....

I do not know type of science courses you have taken, but sometimes learning about the human body can led to a different way viewing a problem. Especially, when nanotechnology and sub atomic technology could aid medical science.

I changed majors in my senior year. It is a big decision, that will impact your life. Can you think of some exercises to get the computer interest back? Can you complete your major but beef up study of the others, make them both minors or double major, etc.? How about computer tech writing? That would pay well.

How long has it been that you've been uninterested in it? I keep wondering whether I should stick with my major, or double major, or double minor, or... I figure that, since I am interested in pursuing a career in my current major (psychology) and I find it very interesting, I'm going to stick with it. But then there's anthropology and computers and agriculture and.... I know what you mean.

What Perna said sounds like a good idea. Why not minor in literature or creative writing or whatever it is that you are interested in? And maybe take electives from here and there that sound interesting. Might be an idea to take courses this coming semester that don't have to do with computers; you might be a lot more interested in the spring.

You can also try talking with school advisors and find out about each program and any subprograms within the major (such as Technical Writing through the English Department). Here's a fun fact about being an English major... What CAN'T you do with an English major?! Being an English major will improve your writing, and being able to write in an articulate manner, as well as use critical reasoning/reading skills will always be valuable in just about any field of work. Personally, I think a double major of anything with English is pretty killer (but then, I'm definitely biased).

I also changed my major.. and universities. I changed from PoliSci to English. I'm still working towards my degree, though, because of my mental issues getting in the way. But, personally, I think you should try to figure out a way to do what you love.. Make it possible somehow, even if it's just in some sort of little way, because it'll make life a little bit more bearable...
