I chose a state school because it was more affordable, and though at the time I felt like everyone in my high school was judging me because I wasn't going to a "better" school, I could not be happier with my decision. A degree is a degree, and I was still exposed to all kinds of amazing opportunities. Plus, I will be leaving college with absolutely no loans, which is a great feeling.
I think you should definitely consider what you want to do: if you want to have a high-paying job, then it might be okay to put the financial aspect as a small priority. I believe that location is important- my college has lots of great places to walk to and get off campus for awhile. And of course, it has to have majors that you are interested in above all.
College is what you make of it, so no matter where you go (unless it's an incredibly bad fit), I think that it's possible to love your college.
