Trig. Anyone

I suck at trigonometry (the measurement of triangles)
I missed a few days and the way the teacher explains it just makes me tired. In good at algebra and I'm good at math. Ill even go as far to say I like it but I can't help to fall asleep. My friend next to me doesn't pay attention either but she's taken the class already she just sits there and draws. I'm in algebra 2 honors and next year I'm taking geometry. I don't know what to do

I made a "D" on my final in Geometry, so triangles aren't my thing, anyway. I'm sorry your teacher isn't able to make Trig exciting. I found when I took a lot of notes in a class I had to stay awake. Also, maybe you can find someone who is doing well and get some pointers.

When I took Statistics in grad school I got another book that sometimes explained things in a way that helped me to understand more.

Is there an official tutoring program at your school? Have you talked to your teacher about wanting extra help?

Try googling applications of trig - it is very practical. Not really about measuring triangles per se. You can probably find some neat structure or relationship that sparks your imagination, even on youtube if you prefer animations. You have to be a self-learner. Most instructors will not spoon feed you in university. (I think you are in high school now.)

I am a self learner. That's the only reason I'm not failing the class. I normally grasp things quickly but I missed a few days and have been trying to catch up. Right now we are doing "ssa" triangles or "donkey" triangles as she says. She's not a bad teacher math is just not as interesting to me anymore I think. I don't know. Tomorrow I'm going on khan academy see if I can catch up there.

I hated trig in school, went to a tutor to get extra help with it, ended up aceing it. Now I couldn't remember it to save my life.
My advice would be to ask a friend who's good at it, it's what I would do when I was stuck on something.

Man I took trig at my university I got an A. But after each exam i forgot everything i learned. My professor also gave us a practice sheet of basically all the kind of problems that would be on the next coming exam/mid-term/final.

When it comes to trig just memorize your special triangles and you'll be good to go basically.

I'm in pre calc. Now so hopefully I don't have to use it much.

trig is very very important in calculus, you should have flash cards with all the trig identities and you should be spending time memorizing them. Not only that but you need to know how to manipulate trig functions and simplify them. Trig is a very important field in mathematics and you will see it in every class you take after trig VERY often.

That sounds fantastic. Since I learned it a bit easier last year hopefully this year it'll be better.

Are you an analytical person or no? Is this trig in High School or College? I've always been an analytical person and got an engineering degree and have played a musical instrument the last 35 years (music and math kind of go hand-in-hand with spatial thinking, etc.). Lots of times I wish that I wasn't an analytical person because it can work against you (over-analyzing everything, introversion, etc.). I'm not that proud of it. Math is good for your concentration - it's something to get lost in and that's a good thing for me because that means time flies by quicker and it takes your mind off of yourself and problems, etc.

Seriously just kidding. Fortunately my major didn't require it. We had a special Calculus class for us, that teacher called it Calculus without the math. He was cool about it though. If I had been in any other math based major(math, engineering, whatever) then I would have had to take it and regular Calculus.

If it's like any other math, then what has helped me is just repetitive practice. It's like every day I have to practice math when I'm in a math class. And when I do that I usually do well, when I don't, well you get the idea.
