So I go to a private high school that is really inclusive. The environment is very open and we really try to spread awareness about different learning styles and cognitive differences and everyone is super supportive. I was chosen to give a presentation on Friday to the 9th graders (freshman class) at my school about learning disabilities and other brain differences. It's pretty laid back... basically, it's going to be a huge Q&A session. I'm good at thinking on my feet but I'm still nervous! It's an honor that I was approached and I can't wait to give this presentation but I'm a little nervous. Wish me luck!

Yes, good luck. Think of us up there with you. I did a presentation a couple years ago as part of a panel at a writer's conference and forgot my own little autobiography (and that was with notes!) I was able to get back on track though and did okay.

Good luck!! I'm sure you're going to do fine!

I have to give a presentation on the biology of depression in a few weeks... I'm pretty nervous, I don't like public speaking in any form. But thats what the propranolol is for....
Thanks for this!

It went really well you guys... I was nervous about it but the students were super supportive and super acceptive and there was just such a positive energy in the room. It was as 85 minute presentation and I did not prepare anything before hand (so I wasn't sure how it was going to go). Everyone asked such great questions. It really opened my eyes to how much young people really do care and want to know about these things. I think the reason for so much stigmatism around mental disorders is because people are afraid to talk about it. I saw in these kids that people really do care and I think that is such a positive step toward destigmatising mental disorders. I highly encourage people to spread awareness because it feels so good to know that you are helping bring change to how society views mental illness.

Not just this, but I was always the little shy kid. Two years ago, I never would have done this. It felt so good and I feel so proud when I see how far I've come.
